Hamilton, AL – Dr. George Robert Rice, D.V.M., age 81, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Monday, December 7th, 1998, at his residence.
Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 9th, 1998, at the Hamilton United Methodist Church in Hamilton, Alabama. Waymon Crumpton, Eddie Davidson, and Zeke Haselden officiating. Burial in Hamilton Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers, Tommy Wooten, Hugh Frederick, Buell Harris, J.C. Post, Everette Sullins, A.C.Tice, Gary Post, and Howard Raynor.
Dr. Rice was born September 9th, 1917, in Winston County, Alabama, to the late Thomas Parker and Martha Lula Boyd Rice. He was a Veteran of the United States Armed Forces where he served as a Captain in the United States Army during World War II. Dr. Rice was the Veterinarian in Hamilton and Marion County, Alabama for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Willie Viola “Billie” Bonds Rice; 1 daughter, Dr. Susan Rice Taylor, DMV and her husband, Lonnie H. Taylor, Hamilton, AL.; 1 granddaughter, Tami Lewis Franklin, Hamilton, AL.; 1 great-grandson, Connar George Franklin, Hamilton, AL.; 2 sisters, Myrtle Chambers, Birmingham, AL., and Esther Kitchens, Pensacola, FL.; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Parker and Martha Lula Boyd Rice; 2 daughters, Connie Jo Rice Frederick, and Deborah Jean “Debbie” Rice; 1 brother, T.D. Rice; and 2 sisters, Mary Chambers, and Etta Colburn.
Hamilton Funeral Home, Hamilton, AL., directed the services.
