Rachel Odelle Kilgore, age 39, of Columbus, Mississippi, passed away Saturday March 24, 2007 at the University Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi.
Visitation, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 26, 2007, at the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel. Services held Tuesday March 27, 2007 at 12:00 Noon from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Sulligent City Cemetery. Bro. Mike Allred officiating. Pallbearers, Glen, James, Danny, and Johnny Karr, Windy Myers, Chuck Stanford and David and Myers Dean.
Ms. Kilgore was born in Jefferson County, Alabama to James Verdo “Doodle” and Lula “Lou” Griggs Kilgore, Jr. She was a graduate of Shades Valley High School.
She is survived by 2 sons, Corey Dell Kilgore, Columbus, MS. and Charles M. Gantt, Wetumpka, AL.; and a special puppy named Buddy Kilgore, Her parents, James Verdo “Doodle” Kilgore, Jr. and Lula “Lou” Gtiggs Kilgore, Pelham, AL.; 1 sister: Drucilla “Dru” (Mauricio) Martinez, Montevallo, AL.; 1 brother: James Verdo “Beau” (Leigh Ann) Kilgore, III, Pelham, AL.; nephew, Alex Martinez; nieces: Katie Bitz and Kayla Davidson.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rufus and Odelle Griggs who lived in Aberdeen, Mississippi, and James Verdo Kilgore, Sr. and Excene Karr Kilgore who lived in the Birmingham and Sulligent, Alabama area; and great-grandparents, Hamp and Izy Rye Karr, Sulligent, Alabama.
