Ms. Connie Gail Thompson, age 63, of Phil Campbell, Alabama, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011, at Lakeland Community Hospital, Haleyville, Alabama.

Ms Thompson was born June 29, 1948, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Commie Lee and Pearl Bishop Maddox.  She was a Homemaker.

She is survived by 1 daughter, Kristie Michelle Kiler; grandchildren, Jonathan & Kala Kiley, Devin & Dustin Thompson, and Tyler & Ashley Hendrick; friends, Jennifer Hedrick, Kathleen Terrian & family, and Patricia MacArthur; 1 step-daughter, Denita Rivera; and 1 son-in-law, Louis Rivera.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thompson; 1 son, Charlie Thompson; grandson, Christopher Blake Thompson; and her parents, Commie Lee & Pearl Bishop Maddox.

Jannie “Jan” Burleson McCracken, age 54 of Twin, Alabama, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011 at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield, Alabama.

She is survived by her husband, Harold L. Dell Lacey Holcomb, age 92, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Marion Regional Medical Center in Hamilton, Alabama.

Ms.  Holcumb was born March 13, 1919, in Marion County, Alabama, to John Samul and Jennie Bell Mitchell Lacey.

She is survived by 1 sister, Mavis Mitchell; 1 sister-in-law, Louise Lacey; 6 nieces, Lora Faye (Vard) Townsend, Glenda (Eddie) Floyd, Gayle (Marvin) Lowery, Rita (Wayne) Underwood, Hilda (Fred) Clark, and Martha (Jimmy) Harrison; 4 nephews, James Franklin (Grace) Cook, Ronnie (Theresa) Mitchell, George (Ann) Cook, and Grant (Bernice) Mann; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Elton Holcomb; her parents, John Samul and Jennie Bell Lacey; 1 brother, Clyde Lacey; 2 sisters, Annie Cook, Eleanor Mann; and infant twins, a brother and a sister.

Christopher Brian Inmon, age 40, of Hackleburg, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Marion Regional Medical Center, Hamilton, Alabama.

Visitation, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 31, 2011, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Hamilton, Alabama.  Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., following visitation at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial in Shiloh Cemetery, Hamilton, Alabama.

Mr. Inmon was born July 29, 1971 to Jackie Lee and Mary Sue Carroll Inmon in Red Bay, Alabama.  He was disabled.

He is survived by 2 children, Jessica Daniella Inmon and Hanna Nicole Inmon; his parents, Jackie Inmon and Sue Inmon; 3 brothers, Rodney Inmon, Shane Inmon, and Shannon Inmon; and his grandparent, Lucille Inmon.

He was preceded in death by Lee Inmon, Oliver Carroll, and Lillie Carroll.

Richard Harris of Houston, Texas (formerly of Hamilton, Alabama) passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011, while a patient at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. At the time of his death he was surrounded by his wife Heidi, his daughters Marne French and Kathryn Harris, and his son-in-law Jake French. Richard suffered from Acute Myeloid Leukemia for the past year and had moved to Houston to be near M.D. Anderson for cancer treatment.

Graveside funeral service will be held beginning at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011, in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the May and Smith Funeral Home from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service Wednesday, December 8th, 2011.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Ave., Suite 310, White Plains, NY 10605. Donations may also be made to the First Christian Church, 166 East Church Street, Sandersville, GA 31082. (This church was founded by Thomas Marcus Harris, Richard’s great-great-grandfather.)

He is survived by his wife, Heidi K. Harris; 2 daughters, Marjorie H. French and Kathryn F. Harris, both of Tuscaloosa, AL.; 1 step-son, Dylan S. Newell of Magnolia, OH.; 1 son-in-law, Jake D. French of Tuscaloosa, AL.; and 2 brothers, William M. Harris, III of Roxboro, N.C. and Michael F. Harris of Lorton, VA.  An avid pet lover, he also leaves 1 dog and several cats.

Richard, a native of Hamilton, Alabama, was born in Russellville, Alabama and attended school in Hamilton, graduating from Hamilton High School. In 1972 he received his B.S. Degree in Chemistry from The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., where he received his commission in the US Air Force. His active duty service was spent at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, where he was a Launch Officer for the Minuteman Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) program assigned to the Strategic Air Command’s 44th Strategic Missile Wing. Following his release from active duty, he entered the Air Force Reserves as an Intelligence Officer assigned to the Air Force Intelligence Reserve program participating on a regular basis until his retirement.

Upon returning to civilian life, he attended Jeff State Jr. College and received an A.A.S. degree in Financial Management in 1978. He continued his education at the University of Alabama, receiving a M.S. in Mineral Engineering in 1981. Following his service as a phosphates mining engineer in central Florida he returned to the University of Alabama for graduate work in Environmental Engineering. In 1991 he received a Masters in Environmental Engineering and pursued considerable further post-graduate studies in Environmental Engineering.

After leaving the University of Alabama, he began a Civil Service career working both for the U. S. Air Force at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida and Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama and the Federal Aviation Administration in Montgomery and Mobile, Alabama.

In addition to his Civil Service career, Richard was president of Harris Environmental, Inc., an environmental consulting and training firm. In his capacity as a trainer, he also served as an Adjunct Professor for several online colleges and universities providing environmental engineering related courses.

Richard was a member of the Masonic orders and the Shriners as well as the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE).

Ms. Williams was born September 9, 1920 in Lamar County, AL to the late Luther and Tea Hollis Philips. She was a member of Rising Star Baptist Church, and a faithful member of Mt. Zion #2 C.M.E. Church in Hamilton, AL.  Ms. Williams enjoyed cooking and going to church.

She is survived by 3 sons, Oliver “Tiny” Williams, Hamilton, AL., Leon (Brenda) Williams, Hamilton, AL., and Luther Williams, Tacoma, WA.; 3 sisters, Mae Ola (Billy) Westbrook, Red Bay, AL., Ada Rush, Hamilton, AL., and Dorothy (Richard) Andrews, Chicago, IL.; 28 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Tea Hollis Philips; her husband, Statewright Williams; 2 sons, Raymond Williams, and Bluther Williams; 4 brothers, Floyd Philips, Haston Bell Philips, Aritist Philips, and Charlie Philips; and 4 sisters, Lannie Marie Gardner, Lenia Mae Flemings, Ella Lee Marchbanks, and Minnie Cribbs.

Ms. Nickel Young, age 89, of Texarkana, Arkansas, passed away Monday, December 26, 2011 at her home.

Ms. Young was born December 1, 1922 in Conway, Arkansas.  She was member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church and a homemaker.

She is survived by 2 sons, Wade Eddington of Hamilton, AL. and Finney Eddington of Texarkana, AR.; 2 daughters, Penny Jeffery of Texarkana, AR. and Irma Young of Texarkana, AR.; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

Ms. Young was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Young.
