J.C. Palmer, age 87, of Hackleburg, Alabama, passed away Friday night, March 30, 2012, at his residence.

Mr. Palmer was born August 16, 1924 in Texas to Joe F. Palmer and Ethel M. Lewis Palmer.

He is survived by his wife, Mae Palmer; children, Gary & Ann Claire, Kathleen Robe Wade & Nancy, Justin & Brittany, Lacy, Katie, Jessica, Jeremy & Amberley, Sharron, & Dale, Jill, Cole & Molly, Brooks, David & Kim, John David, Callie, and Kinsley; brothers, Olen & Essie, Fage, Riley & Virginia, Jerry & Carolyn; with a host of nieces & nephews.

Melissa was the wife of Bobby Smith of Hamilton, Alabama.  She was born October 27, 1973, in Mississippi, to Rosa Johnson and the late William Scotty Gray.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby Smith; her mother, Rose Johnson; 1 sister, Virginia Diane Gray; nephews, Jason Kyle Osborn, Branson Kade Rhodes, & Konnor Russelle Rhodes; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Steve & Brenda Garrison; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Scotty Gray; and grandmother, Blanche Gray.

James Howard Jones, age 74, of Hamilton, Alabama passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Marion Regional Nursing Home, Hamilton, Alabama.

Ms. Wiginton was born November 5, 1962, in Marion County, Alabama, to Ted and Ila Mae Clement Sullins.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Wiginton; children, Misty (Earl) Pollock & Boomer Wiginton; step-daughter, Mona Wiginton; grandchildren, Marley, Shanna, Elise Wiginton, Carson & Fisher Wooley; 2 god-daughters, Eyeisha Hall & Taylor Dupree; 3 god-sons,  Eric & Luke Hall & Tyler Purcell; 2 god-grandchildren, Zayne White & Alaysia Pollock; with a host of family & friends who love her dearly.

Charles Wade Cole, age 63, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Tuesday Evening, March 27, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Visitation 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Pleasant Ridge Freewill Baptist Church, Hamilton, Alabama.  Funeral service, 4:00 p.m. following visitation, at the church.  Bobby Duncan officiating.  Burial in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Hamilton.

Charles Cole was born April 1, 1948 in Tupelo, Mississippi to John M. and Gertha Holland Cole.

He is survived by his wife, Brinda Warren Cole; daughter, Laurie Cole Massengill; son, Mark Cole; 2 granddaughters, Kayla Cole, and Hannah Cole; 2 grandsons, Drew Voyles, and Heath Cole; 3 brothers, Johnny Cole, Donald Cole, and Ricky Cole; 1 sister, Linda Kelly; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John M. and Gertha Holland Cole; and 1 brother, Gary Wayne Cole.

James Verdo “Doodle” Kilgore, Jr., age 69, of Pelham, Alabama, formerly of Sulligent, Lamar County, Alabama, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012.

Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Norwood Funeral Home Chapel in Sulligent, Alabama.  Bro. Byron Pickering officiating.  Visitation, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.  Burial in the Sulligent City Cemetery, Sulligent, Alabama.

“Doodle”, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was born in Birmingham, Alabama, April 28, 1942, but was a resident of Sulligent, Alabama for most of his childhood.  He graduated from Sulligent High School as a member of the class of 1960.  He also attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and the University of Memphis (formerly Memphis State University).  He was an Alabama National Guardsman during the civil rights struggles of the 1960’s.  He was retired from Chrysler Credit Corporation where he was employed for 27 years.  He was a brother and a past Master in the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lula “Lou” Griggs Kilgore; 1 daughter, Drucilla (Mauricio) Martinez; 1 son, James Verdo “Beau” Kilgore, III; and his grandchildren, Kaitlin Marisa Bitz, Corey Dell Kilgore, Alexander Diego Martinez, and Lucia “Luci” Rae Martinez.   He will be missed by his many family members and friends in both the Sulligent, Alabama and the Birmingham, Alabama area, along with many other Alabama Counties and other States.  Before becoming ill, he was an avid golfer and was a member of the Altadena Country Club for many years. He was also a loyal Alabama football fan and enjoyed attending his class reunions. He was a devoted grandfather and will be missed most of all by his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Rachel Odelle Kilgore; his father, James Verdo Kilgore, Sr.; his mother, Excene Karr Kilgore; 1 sister, Linda Kilgore Myers; and 1 brother, Steve Kilgore.

Larry J. “Trailblazer” Silas, age 65, of Guin, Alabama, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012, in the Golden Living Center in Winfield, Alabama.

Visitation, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the Norwood Funeral Home in Guin, Alabama.  Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, following visitation, at the funeral home chapel.  Burial in the Guin City Cemetery, Guin, Marion, Alabama.

Larry was born in Guin, Marion County, Alabama, to the late Orse and Margie Robertson Silas.  He had lived in Guin, Alabama all of his life and was a member of the Guin Freewill Baptist Church.  He was a Truckdriver and owned and operated the Silas 10-8 CB Shop in Guin.

He is survived by 3 sisters, Martha (Jim) Waigle, Guin, AL., Mary McQuaig, Northport, AL., and Margaret (Jerry) Wilburn, Mantachie, MS.; 1 brother, James Silas, Guin, AL.; 5 nieces; and 3 nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orse and Margie Robertson Silas.
