Mr. William Richard McKinney, age 93, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, August 29th, 2012, at Marion Regional Nursing Home in Hamilton, Alabama.

Visitation, 12:30 – 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 31st, 2012, at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton, Alabama.  Funeral service 2:00 p.m., following visitation at the Hamilton Funeral Home.  Bill Ausborn officiating.  Burial in Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Hamilton/Weston, Marion County, Alabama.

Mr. McKinney was born October 3, 1918, in Marion County, Alabama, to Calloway and Bernvilla Post McKinney.

He is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, & other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Corinne Gann McKinney, infant son, Larry Wayne McKinney and 21 brothers & sisters.

Mr. Girlie Gus McCarley, age 91, of Hackleburg, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, August 28th, 2012, at his residence.

Visitation, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., Thursday, August 30th, 2012, at the Hackleburg First Freewill Baptist Church in Hackleburg, Alabama.  Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 31st, 2012, at the Hackleburg First Baptist Church, with the body to lie-in-state at the church from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., prior to service.

Mr. McCarley was born January 1, 1921, in Franklin County, Alabama, to the late Lis and Bertha Lindsey McCarley.

He is survived by his wife, Louise McCarley; 3 children, Girlie Ray (Nancy) McCarley, Kenneth (Kathy) McCarley, and Peggy (James) Nichols; 7 grandchildren, Lynn (Chris) Raper, Kim (Tony) Wooten, Chris (Monica) McCarley, Brad (Lisa) Nichols, Casey (Kelsie) Nichols, Kim Fretwell, and Karen Dykes; 7 great-grandchildren, Ty Raper, Morgan Wooten, Carley Wooten, Lilly McCarley, Ellie Grace Nichols, Lili Fretwell, and Kenley Willoughby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lis and Bertha Lindsey McCarley; 4 brothers, Garvin McCarley, Harvey McCarley, Dalton McCarley, and Alton McCarley; and sisters, Floy Scott, Ethel Whisenant, and Lucille Lahue.

Ms. Margaret Shirlene Lindsey Posey, age 74, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Sunday, August 26th, 2012, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.

Visitation, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 28th, 2012, at the Hamilton First United Methodist Church in Hamilton, Alabama.  Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 29th, 2012, at the church.  Burial in Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Hamilton/Weston, Marion County, Alabama.

Ms. Posey was born January 19th, 1938, to the late Howard and Mellie Stone Lindsey.  She was retired but had worked for many years at Munsingwear, Inc. in Hamilton, Alabama.

She is survived by her husband, E.J. Posey; 2 daughters, Bonita (Alan) Schulman, and Eugenia Alvis; and 1 son, Kevin Posey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mellie Stone Lindsey.

Ms. Ruby Rye Dill, age 92, of Beaverton, Alabama, passed away Friday, August 24th, at her residence.

Visitation, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Saturday, August 25th, 2012, at the Norwood Funeral Home in Sulligent, Alabama.  Funeral service. 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel in Sulligent, Alabama.  Burial in the Olive Hill Cemetery, Lamar County, A.  Bro. Tommy Spruiell officiating.

Ms. Dill was born April 3rd, 1920 to the late John Daniel and Virginia Lee Perry “Ginnie” Rye.  She lived in Beaverton most of her life and retired from McCoy Manufacturing where she was a seamstress for 23 years.  She was also a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church.

She is survived by 1 sister, Maxine McKay of Sulligent, AL.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Daniel and Virginia Lee Perry “Ginnie” Rye; her husband, Lowell Clifton Dill; 1 sister, Lona G. Seaborn; and 4 brothers, Cletis Rye, Cecil Rye, James Rye, and an infant brother, Charles Rye.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Union Chapel Baptist Church.

Mr. Robert William Mitchell, age 63, of Bear Creek, Alabama, passed away Monday night, August 20th, 2012, at Detroit, Alabama.

Visitation, after 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012, at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton, Alabama.  Funeral service, 4:00 p.m., Thursday, August 23rd, 2012, at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel.  The body to lie-in-state from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m., prior to service.  Burial in Cedar Tree Cemetery, Hackleburg, Marion County, Alabama.

Mr. Mitchell was born March 3rd, 1949, in Alabama, to Irene Barnes and the late Robert Earl Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife, Pam Mitchell; 2 daughters, Penny (Chris) Elledge, and Jennifer (Greg) Baker; 2 grandchildren, Austin & Addison Elledge; his mother, Irene Barnes; and 3 sisters, Vanessa McCart, Linda Hertzing, and Paulette Moore.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Earl Mitchell.

Mr. Steve Carter, age 61, of Mantachie, Mississippi, passed away Monday, August 20th, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center.

Visitation, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday night, August 22nd, 2012, at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel, Hamilton, Alabama.  Funeral service, 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 23rd, 2012, at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton.  Burial in New Prospect Cemetery in the Wiginton Community, County Road 118, Hackleburg, Marion County, Alabama.

Mr. Carter was born September 20th, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, to Dewey and Mary Lee Carter.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Carter; 2 daughters, Ann Marie (Darrell) Walker, and Rebecca (Jim) Boeding; 2 sons, Danny Carter, and James (Victoria) Carter; 3 grandchildren, Samantha, Hailey, and KyLeigh; 1 brother, Dwight Carter; and 1 sister, Janet (Harold) Miller.

He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Teresa Carter.

Mr. Rodney Wade Summerford, age 73, of Daphne, Alabama, formerly of Winfield, Alabama, passed away Thursday, August 16th, 2012.

A Celebration of his life held 3:00 p.m., Monday, August 20th, 2012, at Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church.  A reception at the church to follow the service.

He retired in 2007 from Volkert & Associates after 44 years of service.  Rodney loved his family, his church, Alabama football and golf.  He was a member of Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church where he was serving as an active Elder, he previously served as a Deacon at Westminster Presbyterian and Springhill Presbyterian church in Mobile, Alabama.  He was a graduate of the University of Alabama with a B.S, in Civil Engineering .  He served as President of A.S.C.E. and A.S.P.E.  Mr. Summerford was honored as outstanding fellow of the Department of Civil Engineering, as a Distinguished Fellow for the college of engineering at the University of Alabama.  He served as president of Skyline Country Club, and of the Capstone Engineering Society for University of Alabama and Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lucy Summerford of Daphne, AL.; 1 son, Dennis (Marguerite) Summerford of Fairhope, AL.; 1 sister, Susan (Mark) Burleson of Hamilton, AL.; 3 grandchildren, Ryan, Lauren and Ashley; nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert P. “R.P.” and Megan Kathrine Fite Summerford, (of Hamilton, Alabama); 1 sister, Dani Suzzan Summerford; and grandparents, Hugh Jennings and Kate Frederick Fite.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to the Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church or your favorite charity.

Mr. Hermon Elton Smith, age 73, of Leesburg, Virginia, formerly of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Monday, August 20th, 2012, in Leesburg, Virginia.

Mr. Smith was born February 7th, 1939, in Hamilton, Alabama, to James Alton and Eva Palmer Smith.

He is survived by 1 son, Todd Stuart Smith, (Tamara); and 2 daughters, Shawn Debra Hopkins (Joe Thomas), and Tracy Dionne Smith; mother, Jean Ann Johantgen; 10 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.

Mr. Jones was born July 9th, 1942, in Smithville, Mississippi, to the late Troy and Alma Reil Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Jones; 3 daughters, Shayha King, Tina Harvery, and Barber Sloan; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 Stepson, Rodney; and 1 sister, Debra McDaniel.
