Mr. Curlie Gray Blanchard, Jr., age 56, of Sulligent, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, February 19th, 2013, at DCH (Druid City Hospital) in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Visitation, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 25th, 2013, at the New Grove Baptist Church, Kennedy, Alabama. Funeral service, 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 25th, 2012, at the church. Bro. Michael Brock officiating. Burial in New Church Cemetery in Sulligent, Lamar County, Alabama.
Mr. Blanchard was born June 12th, 1957, in Lamar County, Alabama, to Annie Mae Hollis Blanchard and the late Curlie Gray Blanchard, Sr. He was a 1975 graduate of Lamar County High School in Vernon, Alabama. He previously worked at Arvin, Chromalox, truck driving and as a brick mason. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and cooking. He was a member of New Grove Baptist Church in Kennedy, Alabama.
He is survived by his mother, Annie Mae Blanchard, Sulligent, AL.; his grandmother: Annie C. Hollis, Sulligent, AL.; his wife, Glenda Ogden Blanchard, Sulligent, AL.; 2 daughters, Nia Blanchard, Sulligent, AL., and Tonya Allen, Birmingham, AL.; 5 brothers, Curlie (Jean) Jackson, Sulligent, AL., Charles Blanchard, Columbus, MS., Shawn (Samantha) Robinson, Vernon, AL., Kevin (Tara) Hampton, Vernon, AL., and Ken (Lori) Hampton, Columbus, MS.; 8 sisters, Dianne Martin (Charles) Crayton, Fulton, MS., Brenda (Earl) Anderson, Red Bay, AL., Cynthia (Elliott Jerome) Johnson, Tishamingo, MS., Sharon (Thurman) Caine, Vernon, AL., Debbie (Robert) Massey, Sulligent, AL., Deborah Hampton, Sulligent, AL., Felissa Hampton, Vernon, AL., and Amie Hampton, Vernon, AL.; and 1 granddaughter, Skyla Peacock.
He was preceded in death by his father, Curlie Gray Blanchard, Sr.; 1 brother, Douglas Edward Blanchard; his grandfather, Leroy Hollis; and grandparents, Restus and Rosalee Blanchard.
