May 20, 1940 – January 28, 2014
Mrs. Betty Woodham Hester Coomer, age 73 of Amory, MS, formerly of Sulligent, AL, passed away peacefully surrounded by family members and friends at her residence Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from a battle with cancer. Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11:00 am from Otts Funeral Home Chapel with graveside service and burial to follow in Sulligent City Cemetery. Bro. Jeff Chaffin, Bro. Billy Ray Adams and Bro. James Godsey will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday evening from 6-8pm.
Betty was born May 22, 1940 in Sulligent, AL to the late Veto and Annie Mae Merchant Woodham. She attended Greenwood Springs School and Sulligent Schools and was a graduate of Vaughn’s Beauty College. She worked as a Supervisor for Glenn Enterprises and later on Reltoc Manufacturing before she retired. Betty was full of life and energy, love, a personality that was to the point, and was always taking care of other’s needs before her own. After retirement she could be found relaxing on her back patio, sewing or doing needlework, working in her garden or yard or playing friends and family at a game of dominos (of which she always won) but received the most joy spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Sulligent First Baptist Church.
