Beaverton, AL – Lellon “Biddie” Hawkins, age 74, of Beaverton, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Generations of Vernon. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Webb Cemetery. Bro. Reagan Rye will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 until service time at 1:00 P.M.

Pallbearers: Danny Allison, Morris Knight, Deano Allison, Keith Hawkins, Kenny Hawkins and Dale Hawkins.

Biddie was born August 25, 1939, in Lamar County, AL to the late Buster and Grace Green Hawkins. He worked as a roofer, and worked at a trailer plant. He enjoyed coon hunting. He was a Baptist.

Ms. Dorothy Turman, age 85, of Sulligent, Alabama, passed away Friday, March 28th, 2014 in Hamilton, Alabama.

Dorothy was born December 10th, 1928, in Lamar County, Alabama to the late Tol Roy and Rosa Moore Holliday. She attended Sulligent High School. Dorothy was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

She is survived by 1 son, Roy (Cheryl) Turman, Phoenix, AZ.; 1 daughter, Sandra Faye (Jerry) Smith, Sulligent, AL.; 8 grandchildren, Trudi Turner, Shaun (Erica) Parra, Kris Stresnak, Kristin Turman, William Davirro, Maria Vansuela, Dee Ann Yates, and Jeffrey Smith; 19 great-grandchildren;
4 great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Bobby Tol Holliday, Scottsdale, AZ.; and 2 sisters, Mary Otts, Kearny, AZ., and Nellie Jean McKim, East Lansing, MI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tol Roy and Rosa Holliday; her husband, Buster Turman; Infant brother; and 2 sisters, Isabell “Tudi” Jones and Yvonna Trimm.

Mr. LaGary Lowe, age 70, of Victorville, California, and formerly of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, March 17th, 2014.

A memorial service will be held at Desert View Mortuary, Crematory and Memorial Park 11478 Amargosa Road, Victorville, Calif.,92392 at 2:00 p.m. March 28th 2014.

LaGary had lived in Victorville, California since 1981. He was born in Columbus, Georgia, August 25th, 1943, to Delbert Pearl and Annie Evelyn Clark Lowe. His mom was from Ozark, Alabama and his dad was from Parkersburg, West Virginia. They met while Mr. Lowe was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia, near Columbus, Georgia. Around 1956, the family moved to Hamilton, Alabama. Mr. Lowe was hired by Ralph Sanderson to do upholstery work for him. Mr. Lowe ended up buying the upholstery shop and it became well known as Lowe’s Upholstery. Sadly, in 1963, LaGary’s mom passed away at the age of 39. She is buried in the Hamilton/Weston, Alabama Memory Gardens. Afterward, his dad married Gerry Lann. Mr. Lowe and Gerry lived in Hamilton until the upholstery business began to decline. They then moved to Mr. Lowe’s home town of Parkersburg, West Virginia. Mr. Lowe passed away in 1988 and is buried there.

Left behind, wife Carolyn; son Damian Lowe; daughter Theresa Merell; and in memory, daughter Erica Cawthorne; grandchildren Devan Koivisto, Jasmene Lowe, Meranda Lowe, Shelby Merell, Chelsey Lowe, Justin Merell, James Cawthorne, and Landon Lowe; brothers/sisters Yvonne Lowe Kimbrell, Adamsville, AL., Kenneth “Kenny” Lowe, Choctaw, OK., Delbert Allen Lowe, Hamilton, AL., Sondra Lowe Dodd, Childersburg, AL., Charlotte Lowe Goff, Belton MO., Ricky Lowe, Hamilton, AL., Terry Lowe, New Bern, N.C., Craig Lowe, Parkersburg, W.V., Junita “Nita” Lowe Emerick, Parkersburg, W.V.*

Sulligent, AL – Mr. R. J. King, age 93 of Sulligent, Alabama, passed away March 17, 2014 from the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield, Alabama. Funeral service will be held Thursday March 20, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. from the Kingsville Church of Christ, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Matt Thigpen and Mr. W. T. Allison officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday March 19, 2014 from 6 – 8 P.M. He will lie in state from 1 until service time.

R. J. was born, December 4, 1920 in Lamar Co. AL to the late Marvin and Annie Holloway King. R.J. was a former school teacher, worked as an probation officer for Lamar, Fayette and Pickens County. DHR in Marion County. He attended Mississippi State University, University of Alabama, Florence State and Auburn University. He was a church member of Sulligent Church of Christ. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and was an avid Auburn Fan.

2 Sisters: Gaythel Prothro of Sulligent and Mavoline (Rex) Dalton of Detroit
Several nieces and nephews

Sulligent, AL – Mr. Timothy “Spud” Stewart, age 44, of Sulligent, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, March 19th, 2014 in Sulligent.

Visitation:  6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 24, 2014, at the Otts Funeral Home in Sulligent, Alabama.

Funeral Service:  1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ, where the body will lie-in-state at the church from 12:00 noon until service time at 1:00 P.M. with burial to follow in the Gilmer Addition / Sulligent City Cemetery, Sulligent, Alabama. Elder Steve Gunter officiating.

Tim was born January 12, 1970, in Lamar County, Alabama to the late Christine Stewart. He was a 1988 graduate of Sulligent High School. Tim was employed at Continental Conveyor in Winfield, AL. He previously coached in the Toybowl League for 10 years. Tim was a member of Moscow Holy City Church, where he played the drums for the church.*
