Mr. John L. Skinner, age 73, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, October 29th, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Visitation, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 31st, 2014, at the Hackleburg Freewill Baptist Church in Hackleburg, Alabama.  Funeral service at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 31st, following visitation at the church.  Burial in New Hope Cemetery, Hamilton, Marion County, Alabama.

Ms. Christine Ledbetter Rentschler, age 76, of Chelsea, Michigan, passed away Sunday, October 26th, 2014, in Chelsea, Michigan.

Visitation, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 31st, 2014, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Hamilton, Alabama.  Funeral service, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 1st, 2014, at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial in Barnesville Cemetery, Hamilton, Marion County, Alabama.

She was born in Hamilton, Alabama on November 11, 1937 the daughter of George and Jesma Watts Ledbetter. She grew up in Alabama, graduating from Hamilton High School in 1957. She then moved to Michigan, and eventually to Chelsea in 1966. Her first job was at the A & W. After that she worked at Wrigley’s Supermarket. She was a member of Salem Grove United Methodist Church. Her favorite pastimes were cooking and canning, and she especially loved cookbooks. She also loved antique tractor shows.

She is survived by her loving companion Paul Bollinger and his family of Chelsea, Michigan; 2 sisters, Lula Belle Franks and Nellie Sue West; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers Dexter and Bobby Ledbetter; and 2 sisters Louise Goodson and Geraldine Dempsey.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home with Pastor Christine M. Beaudoin officiating. Burial will take place in Hamilton, Alabama.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Salem Grove United Methodist Church or the
charity of one’s choice

Ms. Margie Maxine Cox Harper, age 94, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Saturday, October 25th, 2014, at her residence.

Visitation, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., Sunday night, October 26th, 2014, at Shiloh Church, Hamilton, Alabama.  Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 27th, 2014, at the church.  Robert Huffman officiating.  Burial in Shiloh Church Cemetery, Hamilton, Marion County, Alabama.

Ms. Harper is survived by 6 grandchildren, Barbara Ables, Terry Harper, Eyvonne Williams, Daniel Harper, Stevie Harper, and Rusty Harper; 12 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hays Daniel Harper; 2 sons, Eutah Harper, and Terry Harper, Sr.; 1 grandson, Jamie Harper; 2 great-granddaughters, Bethany Harper, and Kasey Harper; and 1 great-great-granddaughter, Alxis White.

Mr. Williams was born September 22nd, 1940, in Marion County, Alabama, to the late Fletcher and Lola Avery Williams.

He is survived by 4 brothers, Bill Williams, Coy Williams, Ray Williams, and Delton Williams; and 1 sister, Ellen Williams Purser.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fletcher and Lola Avery Williams.

Tupelo, MS – Truman L. Carter, II, longtime beloved Lee County Deputy Sheriff and all around good man, approached his notification of pancreatic cancer 9 months ago with a positive approach saying, “whether I go or whether I stay, I’m a winner”. He won the victory at 9:37 AM Thursday, October 16, 2014, at the Cancer Centers of America Southeast Hospital in Newnan, Georgia. Truman was born in Amory on May 4, 1963, the son of Bro. Truman Carter, Sr. and Josephine Herndon Carter Howard. He grew up there and in Hamilton, Alabama and graduated from Hatley High School in 1982 where he was Mr. Hatley High and was elected class President on the motto, “the man with the plan to make school cool”. He was a member of the Carnation Baptist Church in Okolona. Truman always wanted to be in law enforcement and, at this death, had been a Deputy Sheriff with the Lee County Sheriff’s Department for 19 years winning numerous citations and awards. He was tough but compassionate and drew high marks for his service to his fellow man. Truman was a born musician, songwriter and performer. He loved entertaining, playing guitar and bass guitar and singing in Church. He enjoyed fishing, loved the area’s fish eateries and was a great southern storyteller and avid conversationalist. He will be sorely missed by all.

Survivors include his parents: Josephine “Jo” Howard and her husband, Leroy of Hamilton, AL., and Bro. Truman Carter, Sr. and his wife, Linda of Amory, MS.; his daughter, Lindsay Carter of Amory, MS.; his son, Truman L. Carter, III and his wife, Sandy of Girard, OH.; 2 sisters, Debra Faith Kuykendall (John) of Amory, MS., and Rhonda Lejean Sloan (Bobby) of Fort Walton Beach, FL.; 12 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Carter in August of 2012; and his grandparents.

Mr. Howard Royce Williams, age 69, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, October 15th, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Mr. Williams was born September 14th, 1945, in Marion County, Alabama, to the late Haston and Freddie (née Williams) Williams.  He was retired.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Williams; children, Sandy Tucker and Chris Webb; grandchildren, Alex Cahoon, Skylar Cahoon, and McKinley Tucker; 3 great-grandchildren, Keagan Cahoon, Kyson Cahoon, and Anastyn Cahoon; 1 sister, Doris Nix; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by 1 son, Brett Williams; his parents, Haston and Freddie (née Williams) Williams; 1 grandson, Brandon Cahoon; and 1 brother, Troyce Williams.
