Visitation, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 2nd, 2015, at Marion County Funeral Home.  Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 2nd, 2015, at the Marion County Funeral Home.  Burial in Cedar Tree Cemetery, Hackleburg, Marion County, Alabama.

*Louise Lacey, age 85, Niceville, FL., passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Blue Water Bay Manor in Niceville FL.

She was born in Marion County Alabama on Wednesday, September 25, 1929 to Gennis S. and Nola Davis Morrow.

Visitation will be Monday, March 02, 2015, 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Marion County Funeral Home. The service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel with Bro. Roger Akers officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Tree Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Lacey; parents, Gennis & Nola Morrow; brothers, David Morrow, Morgan Morrow, Aaron Morrow; sister, Mary Ritch; sister-in-law, Modine Morrow.

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Hilda Clark (Fred) Niceville, FL, granddaughter, Kathryn De Mass (Justin), Destin, FL.; sisters, Mae Rene Crowe (Harold) Twin, AL., Ruby Aldridge (Frank) Pelham, AL, sisters -in-law, Flora Morrow, Adrian, MI, Mavis Mitchell Saraland, AL.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Louise worked at Munsingwear for thirty-two years. She and her husband, Clyde owned and ran the Hamilton Outlet for several years. She was a devoted member of Green Springs Baptist Church for over seventy years.

Brilliant, AL – Mrs. Pearl Ola Burkhalter Atkinson, age 87, of Brilliant, Alabama, formerly of Monroe , Louisiana, passed away Thursday, February 26th, 2015, at Fayette Long Term Care Center, Fayette, Alabama.

Visitation, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 1st, 2015, at Bowen Funeral Home, Winfield, Alabama.  Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 1st, 2015, at Bowen Funeral Home Chapel, Winfield, Alabama.  Bro. Drew Manley officiating.  Burial in Riverview Cemetery in Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana.

Pearl was a 1945 graduate of Pine Tree High School in Longview, Texas.  She retired from Safeway Grocery Company after 25 years of service and worked for KNOE Channel 8 in Monroe, Louisiana after her retirement from Safeway.  She was a member of College Place Baptist Church in Monroe, Louisiana for 38 years.

Ms. Atkinson is survived by 2 daughters, Cynthia (Johnny) Fowler, and Sandra Proctor of Brilliant, AL.; 1  son, Lenn Stephenson of Brilliant, AL.; 7 grandchildren, Shannon Gelpi, Mary  Gentry, Misty Byrd, Kay Wiginton, Wendy Meeks, Justin Fowler and Jessy Fowler; 7 great-grandchildren, Ryan Gentry, Chasity Hisbon, Lane Stanford, Karagan Stanford, Colton White, Cloie Johnston, and Camden Johnston;  and 1 sister, Sharon (Bill) Taack of Las Vegas, NV.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Clarice Weaver Burkhalter; her husband, Colon W. Atkinson; 3 sisters, Margie Willett, Rosemary Burkhalter and Shirley Burkhalter; and 2 brothers, Odell and Glen Burkhalter.

Mr. Hendrix was born in Fayette, Alabama, on September 2nd, 1942 to the late Walter Aaron Hendrix, Jr. and Willie Elaine Trimm Hendrix.  He lived in the Twin Community most of his life.  He was a member of the Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church, assistant manager for many local grocery stores in and around Winfield, Alabama, and was retired from the Sunbeam Bread Company with several years of dedicated service.
 
He is survived by his daughter, Mechele (Shane) Whitfield of Hamilton, AL.; 2 sons, Allen (Teresa) Hendrix of Twin, AL., and Robert (Daphne) Hendrix of Winfield, AL.; 4 grandchildren, Holly, Justin, Kane and Isabela Hendrix; 1 sister, Barbara (Robert) Crittenden of Florence, AL.; 1 niece, Christy (Donald) Kilgore; 1 nephew, James (Sherry) Hendrix; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She is survived by husband, Travis Ray Carter; 2 daughters, Dianne (Ronnie) Cockrell, and Myra Weeks; 2 grandchildren, J. Brett Smith and Christie Smith Norris; 2 great-grandchildren, Tyler Tidwell, and Sara Grace Norris; 2 sisters, Betty Riggs and Shirley Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Lillian Bishop Sandlin; her husband, John Cline Weeks, a WWII veteran, and prominent business man and banker for many years; 4 brothers, J.T., Morris, Harold, and Hollie; and 2 sisters, Lennie and Ilene.

White_Benton_Turrentine_20150221Oct. 13,1921 – Feb. 19,2015 – Benton Turrentine White, 93, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015. He spent his early childhood days in Hamilton, Alabama. He moved to Birmingham as a teenager where he continued to reside the rest of his life. A veteran of World War II, he flew 11 bombing missions over Europe as a B-17 co-pilot in the Eighth Air Force. He earned the rank of Second Lieutenant. After the war, he returned to Auburn University and graduated in 1947 with a Mechanical Engineering degree. In 1953, he married the love of his life, Anne Moore, and they celebrated fifty years of married life together. He began his career as a draftsman with U.S. Pipe, which later became Walter Energy. He was a key contributor in several invention processes that improved the quality and production of pipe products. He also was instrumental in beginning the mining division, and designed and managed this project from its inception to its implementation. He was a long time member of Grace United Methodist Church, and most recently attended Irondale United Methodist Church. He enjoyed Auburn football, music, golf, and painting. Art was a special passion of his which he pursued until his last days. He was a man of quiet demeanor, strong character, and a true southern gentleman. When you were to talking Ben White, you felt like you were the most important person in the room. He was a very kind and caring man, who loved people and continued to make new friends throughout his entire life. He will be dearly missed. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Anne Moore White, and his brother, Victor Rush White, Jr. He is survived by his daughters, Melinda McNamee (Charles) and Catherine Lathem (Terry), his grandchildren Lauren Gomes (Joey), Brooke Hoekstra (Justin), Michelle Lathem, Lee Anne Irwin (Michael), Charles Benton McNamee, six great-grandchildren, and niece Sally Hamilton (Jay). There will be a visitation on Monday, February 23, from 4:00-7:00 pm and a funeral service on Tuesday, February 24, 1:00 pm, both at Ridout’s Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Rd., Homewood. Memorials may be made to one of Ben’s favorite organizations, Tuscaloosa Rotary Honor Flight, P.O. Box 2403 Tuscaloosa, AL (205-759-9534) , which honors American veterans by flying them to Washington D.C. to see their memorials at no cost.
