Beaverton, AL – Ms. Ann Hankins, age 85, of Beaverton, passed away Saturday, April 25th, 2015 at her residence.

Visitation, 5:00 – 6:00 p.m., Monday, April 27th, 2015 at Taylor Springs Free Will Baptist Church, Lamar County, Alabama.  Funeral service, 6:00 p.m., Monday, following visitation at the church.  Burial in the Taylor Springs Cemetery.

Hamilton, AL – Mr. James Troy Loague, age 80, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, April 29th, 2015, at E.C.M. (Eliza Coffee Memorial) Hospital in Florence, Alabama.

Visitation, 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 1st, 2015, at the Hamilton Church of Christ, Hamilton, Alabama.  Ted Burleson officiating.  Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., following visitation, Friday, following visitation.  Burial in Shottsville Cemetery, Hamilton, (Shottsville Community), Marion County, Alabama.

Mr. Loague was born October 5th, 1934, in Dorsey Mississippi, to the late Troy and Zelma Wilburn Loague.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Wiley Loague; 1 daughter, Kathy Loague (Bob) Blanke; 1 grandson, Wayne (Bethany) Young; 1 granddaughter, Christie (Joe) Holland; great-grandson, Joey Holland; great-granddaughter, Kelsey Young; great-grandson, Ryan Young; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Zelma Wilburn Loague; daughter, Deborah Loague Campbell; brothers and sisters, Jack Loague, Bonita Loague Gray, Nell Loague Matin, and Ocell Loague Stanley.

Mr. Swinney was born November 10th, 1944, in Franklin County, Alabama, to the late Curtis Winfield Swinney and Mary Evelyn Yates Swinney.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne Swinney; 2 sons, Shane Swinney, and Jamie Swinney; 8 grandchildren; 1 brother, Curtis Swinney; 1 sister, Delora Swinney Jones; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Winfield and Mary Evelyn Yates Swinney; 1 son, Tommy Leon Swinney; 1 daughter, Denise Swinney; and 1 brother, David Leon Swinney.

Visitation, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening, April 23rd, 2015, at the Otts Funeral Home in Sulligent, Alabama.  Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 24th, 2015, at the Otts Funeral Home Chapel.  Bro. Edward Puckett and Bro. Stanley Blaylock officiating.  Burial in Kingsville Cemetery, Lamar County, Alabama.

Pallbearers, Alan Cantrell, Mitch Cantrell, Steve Morton, Paul McLemore, Ricky Duncan, and Mike Otts. Honorary pallbearers, James Whitlock, Junior Woodham, Dexter Gazaway, Danny Otts, & Staff at Otts Funeral Home ,and Wilburn Hollis.

“Mutt” was born as William Carmack Cantrell, May 11th, 1926, in Marion County, Alabama, to the late William “Bill” and Maggie Mae Terrell Cantrell.  During his life, he held many titles such as a retired Truck Driver, Funeral Director’s Assistant for 17 years at Otts Funeral Home, Pastor at Gattman Holiness Church for many years and veteran soldier in the US Army. He enjoyed gardening, yard work and reading the Bible.

He is survived by his wife, Magaline Cantrell, Sulligent, AL.; 1 brother, Gene (Rebecca) Cantrell, Sulligent, AL.; 2 grandsons, Randal (Robbie) Cantrell, Sulligent, AL., and Eric (Crystal) Cantrell, Detroit, AL.; 4 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Skylar, Riley and Alexa Cantrell; 1 daughter-in-law, Cynthia (Steve) Morton, Sulligent, AL.; his Gattman Holiness Church Family; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” and Maggie Mae Terrell Cantrell; 1 son, Wayne Cantrell; 2 brothers, James Cantrell, and Roger Cantrell; and 3 sisters, Velma Crenshaw, Vera Sanderson and Nell Anthony.

Sulligent, AL – Ms. Marcelle Byrd Gilmer, age 80, of Sulligent, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015, at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield, Alabama.

Visitation, 1:00 p.m., Sunday, April 26th, 2015, at the Otts Funeral Home in Sulligent, Alabama.  Funeral service, 3:00 p.m., April 26th, 2015, following visitation, at the Otts Funeral Home Chapel.  Bro. Jeff Chaffin officiating.  Burial in Shiloh Cemetery.

Marcelle was born April 30th, 1034, in Marion County, Alabama, to the late J.C. and Margaret Sexton Byrd.  She was a 1952 graduate of Hamilton High School and attended Auburn University. She worked as a secretary for her husband at Gilmer Realty. She loved cats and dogs, sewing and growing flowers. Marcelle was a member of Sulligent First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Gilmer of Sulligent, AL.; 1 son, Charlie Gilmer of Vernon, AL.; and 1 daughter, Cassandra Moore of Guin, AL.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents,  J.C. and Margaret Sexton Byrd; and 1 brother, Herb Byrd.

Wendell Gene Giddie, age 77, Hamilton, AL passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Marion County Alabama on Thursday, January 20, 1938 to Robert and Verta Giddie.

Visitation will be Monday, April 20, 2015, 6-8:00 p.m. at Marion County Funeral Home. The service will be April 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with burial in Shottsville Cemetery. Bro. Tommy Franks and Bro. Freddie Miles officiating. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Giddie; parents, Robert Delton and Verta Minor Giddie.

Hodges, AL – Rebecca Vernette Scott, age 77, of Hodges, Alabama, passed away Sunday, April 5th, 2015, at her residence.

Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 7th, 2015, at First Missionary Baptist Church, Hodges, Alabama, with visitation 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., prior to service, at the church.  Marty Guidry officiating.  Internment in Old Line Cemetery, Hodges, Franklin County, Alabama.

Vernette was born October 9th, 1937, in Franklin County, Alabama, to the late Vernar Scott and Fannie Ellen Feltman Scott.

She is survived by a cousin, Virginia West Sanderson; and special family and friends too numerous to list.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Verner Scott and Ellen Feltman Scott (1906 – 1984).

Mason_TrevaHodges, AL – Treva Mason, age 87, of Hodges, AL passed away Thursday, April 09, 2015 at her residence.

She was born in Hodges, AL on Saturday, December 24, 1927 to Horace and Lizzie Haynes. Treva had a love for Mardi Gras, music, fishing, and hunting deer & turkey. She worked at Wrangler and also worked for Big Jim Folsom when she worked with the state.

Visitation will be on Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 5-8:00 P.M. at the Marion County Funeral Home. The service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2015 at Hodges Convention Baptist Church, with the body lying in state one hour before the service. Burial will be in Old Line Cemetery. Bro. Heath McCarley, George Jones and Kent Walker will officiate.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leaborn Mason; parents, Horace & Lizzie Haynes; grandson, Thomas Lynn Guyton, Jr; son-in-law, Tommy Guyton; brother, Pearce Haynes; sisters, Iris Reinhart & Earlene McCluskey.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Teresa Guyton, Danny Duncum (wife, Jo Ann); grandchildren, Kristen Hall (husband Brent), Karen Dillard, Beth Duncum; great grandchildren, Hayden & Tyson Hall, Grant Johnson, Austin, Madison & Ashlynn Guyton and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers please consider making memorial to Hodges Convention Baptist Church, 1554 Highway 172 Hodges, Alabama 35571.
