Hackleburg, AL – Mr. Charlie Clay Gunnin, age 79 of Hackleburg, Alabama, passed away Saturday, October 17th, 2015, at his residence.

Visitation, 11:00 a.m., – 2:00, Tuesday, October 20th, 2015, at the Hackleburg First Baptist Church. Funeral, 2:00 p.m., following visitation, at the Church.  Burial in Cedar Tree Cemetery.

Survivors include, Wife: Sharon Gunnin,Children, Charlene Wiginton, Cathy Freeman, Christine Price, Judy Callis, Donna Harris, Tammy Gunnin, Brian Gunnin, Jackie Lewis, Michelle Gunnin, and Greg Gunnin. Fifteen Grandchildren, Eighteen Great Grandchildren, One Great-Great-Grandchild and One on the way, Brother: Douglas Gunnin and A host of Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by, Parents: Clarence and Icy Gunnin, Son: Craig Gunnin, Grandchildren: Two Grandsons, Two Granddaughters and Six Brothers and Three Sisters.

(In Memory) Acworth, GA – Barbara Lynn Cates, age 61, of Acworth, Georgia passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2015. Barbara was one of four girls born to Roy and Barbara Joan McNiece on November 30, 1953 in Waukegan, Illinois. She had worked as a quality supervisor for the plastic injection molding company, Nypro Atlanta. Barbara truly loved her family – they were her whole life. She had a loving husband, Joseph, beautiful children, Christina, Jennifer, Matthew, Amanda, Derek, and Brian, and her precious grand and great-grandbabies. She enjoyed crafts, reading, and painting in her spare time. She also enjoyed volunteering for Furkids, an animal shelter thriftstore. Barbara Lynn Cates is preceded by her father, Roy Wallace McNiece and sisters, Deloris Outlaw, Sandra Lee Snowden, and Cheryl Jo Lambert. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Cates; mother, Barbara Etchell Nolen of Wildwood, Florida; children, Christina Lynn Gann of Newbern, North Carolina, Jennifer Marie Hawkins and her husband, Chris, of White, Georgia, Matthew Wallace Gann of Acworth, Amanda Lee Snowden of Acworth, Georgia, Derek Charles Cates of Acworth, and Brian Christopher Messenger and his wife, Amanda, of Fort Worth, Texas; sister, Debbie Egger and her husband, Todd, of Wildwood, Florida; 19 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She will be cremated under the care of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw. A Private Celebration of Life will be held.

Hamilton, AL – Ms. Glenda Annette Hawkins Cook, age 52, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Thursday, October 15th, 2015, at her residence.

Visitation, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., Friday, October 16th, 2015, at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton, Alabama.  Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 17th, 2015, at the funeral home chapel.  Burial in Webb Cemetery, Lamar County, Alabama.

Glenda was born June 6th, 1963, in Lamar County, Alabama, to the late Clyde T. Hawkins and the late Mary Sue Cantrell Hawkins.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Cook; 1 daughter, Nikki (Stephen) Trimm; 3 grandchildren, Devin Cook, Drake Cook, and Gage Widner; 1 brother, Doug (Debbie) Hawkins; 1 sister, Linda Cantrell; 1 daughter-in-law, Tabatha Widner; 1 brother-in-law, Sonny (Sandy) Cook; 1 sister-in-law, Janet Mobley; mother-in-law, Alveretta Cook; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde T. and Mary Sue Cantrell Hawkins; 1 son, Larry Dewayne Cook; father-in-law, Hugh Cook; and brother-in-law, Danny Cook.

Winfield, AL – Mrs. Lisa Kay Raburn Chaffin, age 53, of Winfield, Alabama, passed away Monday, October 12th, 2015, as the result of an automobile accident.

Lisa was a 1980 graduate of Winfield High School, she earned her Registered Nursing degree from Northwest Community College, and was E.R. Director in Birmingham and Winfield hospitals for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Ronny Chaffin; 2 sons, Gill Chaffin and Chris Chaffin; 1 daughter, Melanie Carter; her parents, Ted and Beverly Nichols Raburn; 3 grandchildren, Taylor Carter, Leland Chaffin, and Parker Chaffin; 2 brothers, Dewayne (Tracy) Raburn, and Michael Raburn; 1 sister, Cathy Raburn, (Tamera); her father-in-law, Bobby Chaffin; 1 sister-in-law, Donna Smith Raburn; 6 nieces and nephews, Alex Raburn, Tess Raburn, John Raburn, Kaleb Blackburn, Nathan Bowling, and Madison Bowling; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation, Wednesday evening, October 14th, 2015, at the Bowen Funeral Home in Winfield, Alabama.   Funeral service,  11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 15th, 2015, at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel.  Bro. Paul Gray, officiating.   Burial in Siloam Cemetery.

Winfield, AL – Ms. Cynthia Rasbury Pate, better known as “Cindy”, age 53, of Winfield, Alabama, passed away Friday, October 9th, 2015, at her residence.

“Cindy” was a class of 1980 graduate of Winfield City High School, and earned a bachelors degree from the University of North Alabama where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She was employed with the Citizens Bank of Winfield for over 31 years, president of the Winfield High School Alumni Association, treasurer of the Eastern Star Chapter #208 of Winfield, and past president of the Modern Culture Club. Cindy loved her family, always striving to be a loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her father, Billie Rasbury.

Cindy is survived by her mother, JoAnn Stanford Hayes, of Winfield, AL.; 1 sister, Dawn (Carl) Clapp, of Winfield, AL.; 3 daughters, Lacy Pate (Derek) McCaleb, of Northport, AL., and Christina Pate of Winfield, AL.; 2 grandsons, Cashton and Carson McCaleb of Northport, AL.; and 2 nephews, Clark (Amy) Sanford, of Winfield, AL., and Kyle (Ashley) Sanford, of Northport, AL.; and a host of other relatives, friends, church family, co-workers, and her beloved dog Tinkerbell.

Funeral service, 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 11th, 2015, at the Winfield First Baptist Church.  Burial in the Crews United Methodist cemetery near Sulligent, Alabama.  Bro. Wendell Dodd and Dr. Paul Murphy officiating.  Visitation, 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. (service time) on Sunday at the church prior to the service.  Jimmy Pate, Carl Clapp, Derek McCaleb, Clark Sanford, Kyle Sanford, Steve Sizemore, Clay Rasbury, Savelle Rasbury, Chuck Stanford, Allen Stanford, and Prince Brown, serving as active pallbearers, honorary pallbearers, the WCHS Class of 1980, and employees of the Citizens Bank of Winfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Cindy Pate Memorial Scholarship fund at the Citizens Bank of Winfield.

Ms. Owsley is survived by 1 son, Larry M. Owsley; 1 daughter, Sarah N. Burrow; 3 grand-daughters, Angela Ward, Jennifer Owsley, and Kimberly Burrow; 4 great-grandchildren, Alexa Ward, Erika Ward, Evan Ward, and Gavin Woodard; 4 nieces and nephews; 1 sister, Rebecca Hudson; 1 brother, James B. Bannister.

Trussville, AL – Mr. Gay “G.H.” Sanders, age 92, of Trussville, Alabama, formerly of Hackleburg, Alabama, passed away October 5th, 2015, at his residence.

Visitation, Wednesday, October 7th, 2015, 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m at the Hackleburg First Baptist Church in Hackleburg, Alabama.  Burial following at Cedar Tree Cemetery in Hackleburg, Alabama.

Gay “G.H.” Hillman Sanders, age 92, passed away in his home Monday, October 5, 2015.

He was preceded in death by his parents, G.K. and Eunice T. Sanders; brothers, Billy G. James O. and Charles T. Sanders; sister, Nellie “Gale” Sanders and a niece, Martha Rose Sanders.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Guynell Ray Sanders; his sister, Virginia “Jenny” D. Sanders of Miami, FL; brother, Thomas E. Sanders, Sr. (Peggy) of Vernon, AL; sister-in-law, Vivian Green of Hoover, AL; nieces, Diana S. Vance (Bill) of Alabaster, AL, Wanda Jo Davis (Paul) of Jacksonville, FL, nephew, Thomas E. Sanders Jr. (Mandy) of Alabaster, AL, and a host of other family members and friends.

The family is very grateful for Mrs. Shannon Jones in her excellent care for Mr. Sanders as his private nurse. Mr. Sanders was a graduate of Lamar County High School and received his accounting degree after graduating from UAB. He worked with J.D. Pitman and Thompson Tractor for 43 years as the Personnel Manager and Purchasing Agent. As a member of Crestway Baptist Church for over 60 years, Mr. Sanders served on the Board of Deacons. Throughout his years Mr. Sanders enjoyed his time as a Ham Operator, hunting, fishing, and Alabama football.

Birmingham visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed a chapel service beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Trussville, AL. Dr. Jimmy Wilson is officiating.

An additional service will also be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Hackleburg Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. and funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Dr. Sam Morgan and Dr. Jimmy Wilson are officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Cedar Tree Cemetery 1037 Georgia Street, Hackleburg, AL 35564, Attention: Clifford Wise.*

Visitation, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 26th, 2015, at Pleasant Ridge Freewill Baptist Church in Hamilton, Alabama.  Funeral service, 3:00 p.m., Saturday, following visitation at the church.  Mark Collier officiating.  Burial in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Mr. Cole was born Monday, May 31st, 1971, to Charles and Brinda Warren Cole.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Cole; 3 children, Kayla Cole (Justin) Merry, Hannah Cole, and Heath Cole; 1 grandson, Jalen, (on-the-way);  his mother, Brinda Warren Cole; 1 sister, Laurie Cole (Rick) Massengill; 1 sister-in-law, Ginger (Dewayne) Avery; his mother-in-law, Mae McCarley; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Cole, and his grandparents, (paternal grandparents, John Mark and Gertha Mae Webb Cole).
