Mr. Bobby Joe Benson, age 68 of Winfield, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016 in Hammond Louisiana.

Bobby was a 1965 graduate of Brilliant High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Malloy and Lillie Marie Franks Benson.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Benson, daughters, Cindy (Tim) Winslett of Brilliant, Tracy (Marty) Miles of Tuscaloosa, and Kristi (Jeremie) Flemming of Millport, grandchildren, Amanda Bowen, Clint Nabors, Robin (Ben) Fortenberry, Derrick (Jordan) Miles, Tyler Nix, Kayla Winslett, and Nathan Winslett, great-grandchildren, Cailen Nabors, Parker and Abby Fortenberry, Brooks and Brylee Bowen, Elena McCarley, and one soon on the way, Aven Miles, a brother, Gary Lee (Laura) Benson of Monroeville, and a host of nieces nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, from the Bowen FUneral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery.  Bro. Anthony Robbins, Bro. E.T. Sargent, and Bro. Bill Duncan will officiate.  Visitation will be held fro 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. (service time) on Sunday at the funeral home.

She is survived by children, Rachel (Adolfo “Cowboy”) Reyes, Rebecca (Mateo) Gasper, Glenn (Wendy) Upton, and Dennese (Robby) Mcelroy; grandchildren, Casey, Cheyenne, Corey, Austin, Justin, Katelyn, Blake, and Brianna; 3 step-children; 3 step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Alan (Betty) Upton, Kevin (Charlotte) Upton, and James Upton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Lynwood Ballard; and her parents, Dwyatte Upton and Minnie Sue Freeman Upton.

A memorial service and interment of ashes for my first cousin, Audra Faye Carruth Cantrell (Aug. 1, 1928 – May 16, 2016) and her husband, Ottis Cantrell (Sept. 15 – 1922 – May 8, 2013) will be held Saturday, June 25th, 2016, at the Union Chapel Church (Map), in Lamar County, Alabama.

Audra was the daughter of the late Lundy and Ola Webb Carruth of Beaverton, Lamar County, Alabama and the granddaughter of the late Charlie and Dora Hilburn Webb.

They were preceded in death by one son, John Cantrell.

Interment will be in Webb Cemetery, (Map), (near Union Chapel) in Lamar County, Alabama.
