Surrounded by her loving daughters, Juanita F. Schiefel, age 74, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 24, 2017 at her residence. She was born in Sulligent, Alabama, daughter of the late Murray and Daily Blayock Jackson.

On April 26, 1958 in Kenosha, Juanita was united in marriage to Edward H. Schiefel who passed away this past December 23, 2016. To this union were born 3 children, Debra, Kandie, and Eddie Jr. Juanita will be remembered waitressing at Wells Bros for 25 years, retiring to Alabama to take care of her mother and to enjoy her southern family. She enjoyed crafts fairs, flea markets, garage sales and her coffee. Juanita’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her daughters, Debra Connell of Cedar Rapids, IA., Kandie (Jeff) Chmielewski of Racine, WI.; grandchildren, Abby (Eddie) Padilla, Christopher (Teressa) Connell, Sam Connell, Emily (Myles) Chmielewski, Shelby, Kelly, and Lindsey Chmielewski, Alyssa (Josh) Szentes; great-grandchildren, Paisley, Lucas, Mila, Max, Payton, Piper, and Finnley; brothers, Murray (Kay) Jackson, Mickey (Sheila) Jackson; sister-in-law, Alice (Bill) DePaoli of Kenosha, WI.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

In addiction to her parents she was preceded in death by her son Eddie Schiefel, Jr.; and sister, Pauline “Monk” (A.C.) Tice.

Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Thursday, June 29, 2017, 5-7 P.M. Private interment will be held at Antioch Cemetery, Hamilton, Marion County, AL. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Aurora Hospice Nurses, Lisa Phillips, Lisa Heim, and social worker Kate Talbott for their loving and compassionate care.

Jeffrey Daniel “Danny” Smith, age 46 of Hamilton, AL, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2017, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening at Marion County Funeral Home in Hamilton, AL, from 6-8pm. Funeral service will be Thursday at 2:00 pm from Marion County Funeral Home. Bro. Bobby Dodd will officiate. Graveside service and burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Cave In Rock, IL.

Daniel Smith, Toby Smith, Glenn Parker, Dale Northam, Mike Gribble, and Sherriff J.T. Fricker will serve as pallbearers.

Danny was born March 12, 1971 in Washington to the late George Daniel “Dan” Smith and Beverly Carol Baker. He was a 1989 graduate of Hardin County High School in Elizabethtown, IL. Mr. Smith served in the US Marine Corp and was involved in the first Gulf War.

Previously he worked in several area mobile home plants, Mueller Brass in Fulton, MS, Jessco Construction in Tupelo, MS.

Ola Dean Hollis, age 55 of Sulligent, AL, passed away Friday, June 23, 2017 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. from Otts Funeral Home Chapel with graveside and burial to follow in Brown Cemetery. Bro. Bud Glass will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday morning from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 11:00 A.M.

Ola Dean Hollis was born on July 6, 1961 to the late Mr. James Hollis and Mrs. Ola Mae Fleming Hollis. She graduated from Sulligent High School in May of 1979. She joined Powell Chapel CME Methodist Church at young age and was committed to living her adult life as a faithful devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, coworker, home-maker and caretaker. Ola was employed over 16 years at Chromolax Manufacturing. The most rewarding opportunity she had was working with the children and staff of the Challenger Program in Fayette, Alabama. Ola was loved by many. She had a kindred spirit unlike no other. She never met a stranger or denied a friend.

She leaves to cherish these loving memories of her to Lester Ray Wilson, Sr., two daughters; Dionna Hollis and Sharae Wilson, three step-sons; Erik, Lester Ray (Lacy) Wilson, Jr., Cornelius Roy (Jasmyne)Wilson, two step-daughters; Leslie Weir and Ashley Weir, two sisters; Sally Mae (Bob Joe) Johnson and Georgia Ann (Clyde) Kaufman, sister-in-law; Rose (Melbourne) Savage, one niece; Ruby Renee Johnson, four nephews; Anthony (Vanessa) Kaufman, James Robert Patrick (Angela) Johnson, Alex Kaufman, and Lil Melbourne Savage, two great nephews Xavier Kaufman and Omarion Devonte’ Jones, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family, friends, and classmates.
