Hamilton, AL – Mr. Curtis Burley Finch, age 91, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Saturday, July 21st, 2017 in Tupelo, Mississippi at the Northwest Mississippi Medical Center.

Visitation, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., Sunday, July 23rd, 2017, at the Marion County Funeral Home in Hamilton, Alabama. Funeral service, 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 24th, 2017 At the funeral home chapel. Burial in Cooper Church Cemetery, Marion County, Alabama.

Mr. Finch was born January 30th, 1926, in Marion County, Alabama.

Birmingham, AL – Mr. James Graham Price, age 79, of Birmingham, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 21st, 2017.

He was born near Hamilton, Alabama, in Marion County, to James Victor Price and Ruby Lee Byrd Price and later moved to Birmingham, Alabama where he graduated from Phillips High School. He earned a scholarship to play football for the University of Alabama, was injured and then played for Jacksonville State University. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard and was retired from CSX Railroad.

He is survived by three daughters, Wendelyn Leigh Price (Birmingham, AL), Jennifer Anne Price (Birmingham, AL), and Ginger Leigh Price Wallach (New York City, NY).  He is also survived by grandchildren: Jackson Dominick, Kellyn Murch, John Murch, David Wallach and Alexander Wallach.

Graham also leaves behind his dear friend, Dolores Turner; several first cousins in and from this area including Don Gann, Dow Gann, and Roger Gann, Harold Smith, Joy Smith Robinson, Druellen Smith Northam, and Frankie Jean Smith Jones, Lynwood Byrd, and Donald Byrd; and a host of other relatives and friends. (Any corrections or additions will be greatfully acknowledged and promptly added.)

Graham was preceded in death by his parents, James Victor Price and Ruby Lee Byrd Price; his brother, Wilburn Duane Price; maternal grandparents, “Chess” Chester Walter Byrd and Ophelia Young Byrd; his uncles, Clyde Byrd, Elmer Byrd, Woodrow “Woodie” Byrd, and Doil Byrd; and 3 maternal aunts, Dorothy Byrd Flournoy, Inez Byrd Smith, and Willene Byrd Gann; and cousins, Peggy Byrd Scoggin, and Robert Byrd.

A celebration of life service will be on Saturday, July 29th, 2017, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Donnelly House, Southside in Birmingham, Alabama.  All friends and relatives are welcome to attend. John 3:16

Sulligent, AL – Vivian Otts Spencer, age 71 of Sulligent, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at Generations of Vernon. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 2:00 pm from Sulligent First Freewill Baptist Church with burial in Prospect Cemetery. Bro. Joe Beckon and Bro. Dwayne Hammontree will officiate. Visitation will be on Wednesday at the church from 12:00 noon until service at 2:00 pm.

Vivian was born May 30, 1946 in Sulligent, AL to the late Dudley Belmont and Annie Ruth Clark Otts. She was a 1964 graduate of Sulligent High School. She was also a graduate of Dempsey Beauty College in Birmingham, AL. Over the years, she has worked as a beautician at Chloe’s Beauty Shop and Little Chloe’s Beauty Shop, a seamstress at Reltoc and an insurance agent for United Insurance Company of America and Mutual Savings Insurance Company from which she retired.

She was a member of Sulligent First Freewill Baptist Church where she was an active member. Vivian loved being a part of the devotional group at church, The Sunshine Circle.

In her spare time, she spent time with her family and friends, traveling and gardening.

DeLand, FL. – Helen Genovoree Williams, age 93 , of DeLand, Florida, formerly of the Bexar Community in Marion County, Alabama, passed away Sunday July 9th, 2017.

She was born November 17th, 1923, in Bexar, Marion County, Alabama, to Carlton B. Brown and Ola Tencie Nichols.  She worked Quality Control Inspector in the Electronics Industry.  She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, gardening and flowers.  She is survived by her daughter Patricia Glover of DeLand, Florida, her son John W. Davis of Cincinnati, Ohio as well as 5 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren; and a host of other friends and relatives. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Thursday, July 13th, 2017, at 9:00 a.m., with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at Hamilton Funeral Home in Hamilton, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers the family would like for donations to be made to the American Kidney Foundation.

Robert Steve “Baldy” Ballard, age 68 of Hamilton, AL passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Sunset Manor in Guin, AL.

He was born in Amory, MS on Monday, August 30, 1948 to Berlon and Wilma Lee Hightower Ballard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Berlon and Wilma Ballard; grandparents, Curt and Aldie Ballard and Lee and Necie Hightower; 12 uncles and 8 aunts.

There will be a private graveside service at Barnesville Cemetery, Hamilton, AL for family and close friends. The Marion County Funeral Home will be directing the service.

He was survived by daughter, Stephanie Suzanne Ballard of Creola, AL; son, Curt (Christi) Ballard of Jasper, AL; grandson, Jackson Ballard; granddaughter, Annalee Ballard; sister, June (Eddie) Byrd; niece, Stacy (Todd) Page; nephew, Heath Mixon; 2 great nieces and 1 great-nephew; aunts, Curtis Ballard Heppe, Opal Rae Ballard, Dot Ballard, Johnnie Hightower Burks, Thelma (Doug) Hightower Dobbs, and Elizabeth (Jerry) Hightower Grissom; uncle, Bud (Mary) Hightower; special friends, Susan Nixon and Ellen Rodgers; and a host of other cousins and friends.
