Hamilton, AL – Shirley Jean Crowe Rye Bayrd, age 80, of Hamilton, Alabama passed away Saturday, May 26th, 2018, at Sunset Manor in Guin, Alabama.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 30th, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton, Alabama. Burial will follow in Fulton Bridge Cemetery.

Survivors include, Daughter: Debra( Loyd) Wiginton, Son: Rick Rye, Daughter: Kristy Hawkins, Sisters: Jo Ann Stidham and Louise (Larry) Buchanan, Six Grandchildren and A host of Great-Grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her son, James “Jamie” Bayrd; and father, Sylvester “Vester” Crowe.

Hackleburg, AL – Douglas Gunnin, age 77, of Hackleburg, Alabama passed away Friday May 25th, 2018 at his residence.

Visitation will be Tuesday May 29th, 2018 from 6:00 until 9:00 at the Hackleburg First Baptist Church. Funeral Service will be Wednesday 2:00 Pm at the church with burial to follow at Cedar Tree Cemetery.

Survivors include, Beverly (Jim) West, Pam (Steve) Pickens, Gidget Emerson (Late Steve Emerson), Tabby (Jerry) Lolley, Pennie (Brian) Jackson, Ricky and Debbie Sullins, The late Michael Sullins, Brent and Jessica Sullins, Shane and Connie Sullins; Sixteen Grandchildren; and Eighteen Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by, Parents: Icy and Clarence Gunnin and Wife: Clara Gunnin.

Hamilton, AL – Phyllis LeEtta Ahern Peterson, age 83, Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at home. She was born in Andover, South Dakota, on Tuesday, September 25, 1934 to Charles Emery Ahern and Merle Carolyn Feller Ahern.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 25, 2018, at Marion County Funeral Home. The service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Bro. Jeff Armbrester officiating, the burial to follow at Hamilton Memory Gardens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. “Bob” Peterson; parents, Charles Emery Ahern and Merle Carolyn Feller Ahern; brothers, Lyle Ahern, Charles Ahern, Warren Ahern and Willis Ahern.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Mark Peterson of Hamilton; Karin Williams (husband, David) of Northport AL; Doug Peterson (wife, Jennifer) of Hoover, AL; grandchildren, Bode Williams, Samuel Peterson, Ever Williams and Reese Peterson; sister-in-law, Ardell Severson; close family friend, Chris Clark; nieces, Patti Hergenreder, Nashville TN, and Jolene Shear, Clarksville, TN., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Phyllis, Bob and Mark moved to Hamilton in 1966 when Bob was transferred with Munsingwear.  Phyllis worked for 20 years for the Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District.  She retired in 1998.  After retirement she kept busy with Hamilton United Methodist Women, Bridge Club, Panarama Club, Garden Club and volunteering in the gift shop at the Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hamilton First United Methodist Church and/or Hospice of Northwest Alabama.

Prattville, AL – Retha A. Killingsworth Duke King, age 92, of Prattville, AL passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Prattville Health and Rehab. She was born in Red Bay, Alabama on Friday, February 12, 1926 to Paul Killingsworth and Exie Hughes Killingsworth.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 2-3 p.m. at the Marion County Funeral Home. The service will follow at 3 p.m. at the Marion County Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Hamilton Memory Gardens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnie Duke; son, Edgar Duke; parents, Paul and Exie Killingsworth; siblings, Jessie, Dolphus, Lowell, Burl.

She leaves to cherish her memory, grandchildren, Brian Duke (wife, Kristie), Shannon Layton (husband, Doug); great-grandchildren, Brandt Roberts, Kelsey Turner (husband, Jordan), Logan Layton, Nataline Duke; siblings, Junior Killingsworth, Ruby Childers and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Julian Jefferson Creamer Jr.
APRIL 4, 1935 – MAY 8, 2018

Obituary of Julian Jefferson Creamer Jr.
Julian J. Creamer, Jr., 83, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. A Graveside service will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Reverend Garth Forster officiating. The family will greet friends at the mortuary on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or to your favorite charity.

Mr. Creamer was born April 4, 1935, in Macon, Georgia to the late Julian and Ethel Hamlin Creamer. He was a 1953 graduate of Lanier High School and attended Wesleyan College where he earned his bachelor’s degree in music education. He obtained his masters degree from the Vandercook College of Music and served as the director of bands at Dougherty Junior High, Albany, Georgia, and later Jonesboro Junior High School, Jonesboro, Georgia. His bands performed all over the country including Chicago, Pittsburgh and Michigan as well as two tours in Europe. He served in a number of offices for the Georgia Music Educators Association including president. Mr. Creamer also proudly served in the United States Coast Guard. In addition to music, he enjoyed sailing, fishing, his family, and working on his farm. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Sue M. Creamer; son, Jeff (Tammi) Creamer; grandchildren, Evan Matthew and Sarah Elizabeth Creamer; brother, David Creamer, Sr.: nephew, David (Meagan) Creamer, Jr.; and innumerable students that he considered his own.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Banks Robertson; parents, Vester & Susie Taylor; brother, Ivy Paul Taylor.
