Obituary:

John David “J.D.” Foster, Sr. of Fayette, Alabama.

Age:  75

Born:  September 23, 1943, in North Carolina to the late Riley Houston Foster and Ermmadell Dobbs Foster.

Died:  Friday, August 30, 2019, at the DCH Hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

No Funeral Service:  The Family following J.D.’s wishes have chosen cremation for his final disposition and no formal services will be held. A private memorial will be held at a later date.

Survived By:

Wife:  Brenda Joan Kivette Foster of Winfield, AL.

Son:  John David Foster, Jr. of Winfield, AL.

Daughter:  Rene Foster (Bobby) Roberts of Cypress, TX.

Sister:  Juanita Foster of Winfield, AL.

Brother:  Earnest Foster of Glenn Allen, AL.

J.D. was born on September 23, 1943, in North Carolina to the late Riley Houston Foster and Ermmadell Dobbs Foster. He lived many places as a young boy and graduated from Winfield City High School in Winfield, Alabama.  He worked for many years at Chicago Bridge and Iron in Texas and also spent many years as a truck driver. His heart was huge, he never met a stranger and he was friends with everyone.  J.D. had a gift of gab and storytelling was his specialty. He told his stories to everyone, sometimes more than once.  J.D. was one of the best persons you would ever meet.   He enjoyed fishing and Auburn Football.  He loved his family, kids, and grandchildren dearly.  He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.*

Bio:  Born August 9, 1924, in Rome Georgia, to the late Charles O. Reed and Mettie Jerusha Hicks Reed. Mrs. Butler grew up in Rome, Georgia. She obtained a B.A. History, from Shorter College in Rome, GA, did graduate work in History at Columbia University in New York City, got a B.S. in Agriculture at the University of Georgia in Athens, and after her children were born, a Masters in Education at Auburn University. She married Thomas Gilbert Butler on June 10, 1956, at Koinonia Farm, Americus, GA. She taught special education 27 years in Lexington (Lauderdale County) and Winfield City Schools. She was a member of Guin First Baptist Church. She taught Bible Classes for 82 years, and with her husband, volunteered in Christian Missions for 42 years, including more than 20 states in the US and every continent except Antarctica.*

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Guin First Baptist Church or the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home.
