Mrs. Wood was a member of Mount Calvary Freewill Baptist Church in Winfield for many years where she played the piano and dedicated her talent to the Lord. She was an elegant woman with a heart of gold and a devout Christian that loved her family and her church. Ernestine was born on September 28, 1924 to Jeffrey and Rebecca Spiller. She loved playing the piano, planting flowers in her garden, and interior decorating. She was a multiple clothing store manager and decorator in her early years in Chicago. While in Chicago, she was fortunate to dress the famous actor “Cesar Romero”. Later she became an interior decorator in Mobile, Alabama. All of her beautiful talents and work were always expressed from stores to people’s homes. Ernestine rightfully earned her title as “Grandmother” from all of her grandchildren. She was the rock of her family, and a true warrior. Ernestine survived many dark times and obstacles in her life time but still remained a strong, christian lady throughout it all. She is truly loved by her family and will be missed forever.*
