Mary Nell Pope Mays, age 97 years, 6 months, and 2 days, passed away, peacefully with her loving family around her around 10:15 p.m., Friday, September 3, 2021 at her home in Hamilton, Alabama.

Funeral Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later from the Hamilton Funeral Home in Hamilton, Alabama.

Mary was born March 1, 1924 to the late William David Pope and the late Phebe Bedie Cordelia Sullins Pope. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will Pope and Phebe Sullins Pope; (sisters and brothers will be added tomorrow); one son, Gary Wayne Mays, Sr.; and a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is survived by her children, John William (Judy) Mays, Sr., Kenneth Martin (Emma) Mays, Sr., Bobby Joe (Sherri) Mays, and Peggy Ann Mays (Steve) Davis; daughter-in-law, Judy Webb Mays; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

“Randy” George Randall Jackson, 68 of Hamilton, passed away Tuesday August 24, 2021 at St. Vincents Hospital in Birmingham. He served in the funeral industry for over 53 years and was the owner and operator of Hamilton and Hackleburg Funeral Homes. He also was the Marion Coroner for 34 years and loved to help as many people as he could regardless of their financial situation. Randy was a Husband, Father , Grandfather , Friend and Mentor to many. He is survived by, Wife: Paula Jackson, Sons: Kyle (Melissa) Jackson, Kody Jackson and Grandson: Karter Jackson.
Brother: Kenny (Sandra) Jackson, Sisters: June Willis and Helen McGuire. And his Funeral Home Family.
DUE TO RANDYS PERSONAL REQUEST NO FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD, but you are more than welcome to visit his Condo (Mausoleum) as he loved to call it once it is set up to share a story or two. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and his funeral home family.*

Marshall Howard Palmer, age 79, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away August 8, 2021. Marshall was a retired diesel mechanic. He enjoyed riding horses, fishing, grilling and spending time with friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Howard “Bud” Palmer and Mary Willie Williams Palmer; siblings, Louis Ray Palmer and Grace Palmer Fincher; and many cousins, uncles, aunts, and his cousin, William Kenneth Galbreath. He is survived by his children, Steve Palmer of Newport, OR, Christie Gonzalez of Destin, FL, Wes Palmer of Los Angeles, CA, Rachel Palmer of Cordova, TN and Russell Palmer of Brighton, TN; sisters, June Palmer Uselton of Halls, TN and Kathy Palmer Scallions of Halls, TN; brother, Brady Palmer of Covington, TN; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Catherine Palmer, Hamilton, AL. / Memphis, TN.

Jimmy Rudolph Oliver, age 81, of Hamilton, Alabama, born August 4, 1939 in Becker, Mississippi to the late Bennie Franklin Oliver and Dorothy Benton Oliver, passed away June 7th, 2021, at Baptist East Memphis, Tennessee. He was known to many of his friends with whom he worked on the ambulance service as “Jimmy O”.

Visitation, Thursday, June 10th, 2021, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Marion County funeral Home, Hamilton, Alabama.

Funeral service, Friday, June 11th, 2021, 2:00 p.m., at the Marion County funeral Home.

Burial in the Gravel Springs Cemetery, Gravel Springs Community, Hamilton, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Freddie Oliver; son, Ricky Oliver; parents, Bennie and Dorothy Oliver.

He is survived by his children, Rhonda Anderson (Randy) Ashland, of MS., Sherry Craig (Carl) Aberdeen, MS., and Glen Oliver Hamilton, MS.; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bennie Oliver Jr., Janice Flanagan; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lacy_Mariscott“Mariscott” Marilyn Joyce Scott Lacy, age 73 of Huntsville, Alabama, formerly of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Monday, June 6th, 2021, at the Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama.
Visitation, Thursday, June 10th, 2021, at 3:00 p.m., at Shiloh Church in Marion County, Alabama.
Funeral Service, 4:00 p.m., Thursday June 10th, 2021, at Shiloh Baptist Church.
Burial in the Shiloh Church Cemetery.
Mariscott is survived by 1 daughter, Joanna Lacy (Michael) Smith; 2 Grandchildren, David Alexander Smith, and Christopher Alan Smith; 1 Brother, William Charles (Virginia) Scott; 1 Sister, Linda Scott Tamplin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Alton and Rosa Lee Allison Scott; and 1 Brother, Jimmy Mack Scott.
Mariscott was born April 14th, 1948 to William Alton Scott and Rosa Lee Allison Scott. Although Mariscott graduated from Hamilton High School with the “Class of 1965”, she was also a member of the “Class of 1966” through the eleventh grade. She went to summer school that year to earn the needed credits to graduate a year early. She studied for her Master of Business Administration at UAB – The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Alabama and she also studied at Birmingham School of Law. She also wrote and published two books, “A Miraculous Journey” and “The Would-Be Butterfly”.
She will be greatly missed by her school friends.

Annie Olene Burks King, age 100, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, May 12th, 2021, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Hamilton, Marion County, Alabama.

Visitation, 3:00 p.m., Sunday May 16th, 2021, at Landmark Church, Hamilton, Alabama.

Funeral service, 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 16th, 2021, at Landmark Church. Bro. Mark Collier officiating.

Interment in Hamilton Memory Gardens (Hamilton Memorial Gardens), Hamilton, (Weston), Marion County, Alabama.

Olene was born February 14th, 1921, in Alabama to the late Charles Alexander Burks and Mary Malinda O’Rear Burks.

Olene is survived by 2 daughters, Peggy (John) Berryhill, and Anita (Roger) Hall; grandchildren, Steve (Colleen) Berryhill, Pam Berryhill, Dr. Darlia King (David) Morris, and Jason Hall (Tracie); 7 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Peggy J. Webb King.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Richard King, and son, JC King; parents, Charles Alexander Burks and Mary Malinda O’Rear Burks; and 10 siblings.

Willard Frye, age 82, of Hamilton, Alabama, born February 26, 1939 in Marion County, Alabama, to Ellie Lee Frye and Mary White Frye, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, Lee County, Mississippi.

Funeral service, 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 3, 2021, at the Marion County Funeral Home in Hamilton, Alabama.

Burial in the Hamilton City Cemetery, Hamilton, Marion County, Alabama.

Willard is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janet McCarley Frye; son, Roman Frye, daughter, Brandi Frye Hamilton (Orie); daughter-in-law, Patsy Frye; grandchildren, Ryan Frye (Sam), Amber Shea (Sam), Courtney Baccus (Jordan), Anna and Abigail Hamilton; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Wayne Frye (Carolyn); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by 1 son, Chuck Tice; parents, Ellie Lee Frye and Mary White Frye; and 1 brother, Pete Frye.

Rocky Allen Rowe, age 63 of Hamilton, Alabama passed away Tuesday November 10, 2020, at his residence.
Visitation will be 4:00 p.m., until service time beginning at 6:00 p.m., Thursday November 12, 2020, at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel, in Hamilton, Alabama.
Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include, Wife: Judy Rowe, Sister: Brenda (Bill) Hensley, Niece: Becky Corbitt.
Mr. Rowe was born March 6, 1957 in Memphis, Tennessee.

Obituary:

Billy Fay Norton Real, died in Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, Lee County, Mississippi, Sunday, October 4, 2020 at the age of 93. Born December 27, 1928 to the late Claude Norton and Ella Norton, she grew up in the Pine Springs community near Sulligent, AL and graduated from Sulligent High School where she was elected Homecoming Queen her senior year. She and Dexter D. Real were married June 8, 1946. They worked side-by-side on their Rolling Store, in their country store, and later in their bowling center. Later, she assisted and traveled with him, as he served as Marion County Emergency Management Director. She was a member of Hamilton First Baptist Church. She was multi-talented: a fabulous cook, decorator, hostess, clothes designer, and seamstress. She enjoyed working in her flowers, and her immaculate garden beds were proof of her devotion. She always took great pride in her appearance and loved her jewelry!

She was preceded in death by her parents: Claude Norton and Ella Norton; siblings, Avis Irvin, Grace Anderson, Louree Otts, Burlin Norton, and Paul Norton, and her husband, D.D. Real.

She is survived by her daughter, Lanetta Real Phillips, and husband, Ron Phillips of Russellville, AL, son, Kenneth Real, and wife, Brenda Hamilton Real of Hamilton, AL., grandchildren, Hannah Real of Jasper, AL. and Matthew Real and wife, Allie Lyle Real and great-grandchildren, Collyn and Rhett of Hamilton, AL, and sister-in-law: Anita Real, Hamilton, AL.. and a host of Other Relatives and Friends.

Graveside services will be held on Monday October 5, 2020, 11:00 am at Kingsville Cemetery in Detroit, AL.
