Mr. Channell was preceded in death by his parents, James Crave Channell and Mary Cotton Channell; spouse; 3 infant siblings; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; and 1 great-granddaughter.

He is survived by children, Jewel Channell Nelson, Peggy Channell Jones, Karen Channell Mann, Brenda Channell Hughes, Janice Channell Seals, and Jimmy Channell; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard Channell; sister, Francis Channell Burk; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Sarah Jones Cooper, age 89, of Hamilton, Alabama.

Died Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at the Marion Regional Nursing Home of Hamilton, Marion County, Alabama.

Born in Guin, Alabama, January 31, 1933.

Preceded in death by her husband, Lee Cooper; son, Michael Cooper; and stepson, Ronnie Cooper; her parents, John Henry and Gertie Belle Benton Jones; two sisters, Mary Faye Jones Motes and Margie Rae Jones Palmateer; and two brothers, John Edward Jones and George Henry Jones.

Survived by her step-daughter, Brenda Cooper (Bravell) Jackson of Hamilton, AL.; granddaughters, Benja Jackson and Brooke Jackson (Rusty) Banister; great-grandsons, Jackson and Braden Banister; her brother, Donald Arthur (Gwyneth) Jones of Guin, AL.; sisters-in-law, Doris Clark Jones and Virginia Hollis Jones, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Sarah was a member of Hamilton First Baptist Church. She and her husband, Lee, owned and operated various restaurants in Hamilton for many years. She was well known by the countless customers they served at Cooper’s Cafeteria and other establishments.

Private, Family, graveside services were held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Barnesville Cemetery in Hamilton, Marion County, Alabama.*

Bonnie Galbreath Montgomery, age 72, of Hamilton, Marion County, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at her residence.

Visitation, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Hope Alive Church, Bexar Avenue West, Hamilton, Alabama. Funeral service, 1:00 p.m., following visitation, at the church. Burial will follow in Galbreath Cemetery.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Butch Montgomery; 2 sons, Bryan Montgomery and Brandy (Mandy) Montgomery; and 1 daughter, Brittney Montgomery (Cody) Yarber; 4 grandchildren; 1 sister, Wanda Galbreath Terrell; 1 brother, Jimmy Galbreath; 3 sisters-in-law, Evelyn, Mary Ann, and Jan; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Ethel Palmer Galbreath; 5 brothers, Kenneth Galbreath, Wade Galbreath, Jerry Galbreath, Truman Galbreath, and Dale Galbreath; and 1 infant sister, Audra Galbreath.

(Author’s Note) Bonnie was one of the sweetest people I’ve ever known and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Although I was a couple of years older than Bonnie, we shared a birthday. We had that bond and I will remember her always, especially on our birthdays.

She was born in Hamilton Alabama on October 2, 1935, to the late Leonard J. Williams and Maudia Perella “Maude” Nix Williams.

Visitation, 12:00 – 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the Marion County Funeral Home, Hamilton, Alabama. Funeral service 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Bro. Jimmy Lucas and Bro. Rich Dubielak, officiating. Burial in Smyrna Cemetery.

Ms. Byrd was preceded in death her husband, Lesker Eugene “Gene” Byrd; 1 son, Dennis Byrd; 2 grandsons, John Franks and Samuel Byrd; parents, Leonard J. Williams and Maudia Perella “Maude” Nix Williams; 2 sisters, Rudella Williams Wisecarver and Letha Williams Burrow; 1 brother, Lowell Williams; 2 daughters-in-law, Carolyn Byrd, Judy Byrd; 1 son-in-law, Dennis Stidham; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Williams.

She is survived by her children, Eddie (June) Byrd, Teresa Williams (Roland) Harris, Grace Williams (Rickey) Skinner, Carol Williams (Tim) Winsett, Justin (Eme) Byrd, Linda Williams (Wade) Sullins, Helen Williams (Johnny) Robertson, and Julia Mae Williams Owsley; brothers, Wayne Williams, Vecil (Jane) Williams; best friend, Louise Pickle; brothers-in-law, Johnny Burrow, Tommy Wisecarver, Sr.; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Aurdy Leon Williams, age 65, passed away February 26, 2022. He was born on October 17, 1956, to Edd Statewright Williams, and Leathia Phillips Williams, of Detroit, Lamar County, Alabama. He attended Sulligent High School and was a member of Detroit Church of Christ. He worked at Hamilton Bath ware until he decided to retire and spend more time with his family. His hobbies included spending time with his grandkids, having family get together and watching football.
He is survived by his loving wife Brenda Faye Williams of 41 years; children, Shannon Williams, Tupelo, MS, Audie Williams, Sulligent, AL, Chelane Earnhart, Evanston, WY, Kimberly Williams, Tupelo, MS, Valerie Williams, Hamilton, AL; grandchildren, Breanna Shannon, Kenya Moore; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Moore, La’Zariah Moore, Kynsleigh Moore; sisters, Mae Ola (Billy) Westbrook of Red Bay, Alabama, Ada Rush of Hamilton, Alabama; brothers, Luther Williams of Tacoma, WA; and his special niece, Glory Willingham of Hamilton, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
