Jewel McCarley, age 89, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022, at The Meadows in Fulton Mississippi.

Funeral service, 11:30 a.m., in the Marion County Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Marcus Spain officiating. Burial in the Hamilton City Cemetery, Hamilton, Marion County, Alabama.

Jewel is survived by a daughter, Janet McCarley Frye; and a host of other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Denver Ray McCarley.

Dr. John McClure Kerr II, age 77, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022. He was born October 9, 1944, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to John McClure Kerr and Lorene Oma Self Kerr.

Visitation, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2022, at the Hamilton Church of Christ in Hamilton, Alabama. Visitation, 10:00 – 11:45 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2022, at the church. Funeral service, following at 12:00 noon, at the church. Graveside service and burial, following church service, at the Hamilton Memory Gardens in Weston, Marion County, Alabama.

John attended David Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee and received a Bachelor of Science degree. He attended University and Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington Kentucky and received his Doctor of Medicine Degree. He practiced medicine for 50 years. In December of 1972, he and his family moved to Hamilton, Alabama, where he practiced medicine until his retirement in 2018. He was an active member of the Hamilton Church of Christ. He was also a member of the broad of Directors of Heritage Christian University in Florence, Alabama. He loved gardening and astronomy.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John McClure and Oma Self Kerr, and his brother, Paul Kerr.

He is survived by his precious wife Sara Nell Kerr and his children, Christy Kerr Lundy (Dale), John McClure Kerr III “Johnny” (Nicole), Paul Benjamin Kerr “Ben” (Sonja); his step-children, Melissa Roberson Sansom (Mike), David Roberson (Kaitlin); his grandchildren, Ellie and Gatlin Lundy, Tessa Crawford, Ava, and Johnny Kerr, Hannah Grace, Poppy, Millie, and Jonah Kerr, Graham, Jenna, and Julianna Sansom, Ethan, Emmett, Avi, and Olive Roberson; siblings, David Kerr, Susan Halbert, Colonel James Kerr, Kenneth Kerr, sister-in-law Cindy Kerr ( Paul-deceased) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.

Gyles V. Hall, Jr., age 60, of Havana, Florida, formerly of Guin, Alabama, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022, at his residence. He was born May 5, 1961, in Guin, Alabama, to Gyles Velmer Hall Sr. and Earlene Hamm Hall.

Visitation, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Guin Methodist Church. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in Guin, Alabama. Rev. Ulysses Thompson officiating. Burial in Beaver Creek Cemetery (Henson Springs Road) Guin, Lamar County, Alabama.

Gyles is survived by his loving sisters, Willia Dean “Jake” Moore, Hamilton, Alabama, Geraldine Hall, Guin, Alabama, sisters-in-law, Pearlie Walker, Guin Alabama, Mildred Hamm, Tallahassee, Florida, and a host of nephews, nieces, other family, and friends.

Mattie Bell Raper Hambrick, age 79 of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022, at her residence.

She was born in Union Springs, Alabama, on November 24, 1943, to Charlie E. Wilkerson and Francis Pawnee Lambert Wilkerson.

Mary Nell Pope Mays, age 97 years, 6 months, and 2 days, passed away, peacefully with her loving family around her around 10:15 p.m., Friday, September 3, 2021 at her home in Hamilton, Alabama.

Mary was born March 1, 1924 to the late William David Pope and the late Phebe Bedie Cordelia Sullins Pope. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will Pope and Phebe Sullins Pope; (sisters and brothers will be added tomorrow); one son, Gary Wayne Mays, Sr.; and a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is survived by her children, John William (Judy) Mays, Sr., Kenneth Martin (Emma) Mays, Sr., Bobby Joe (Sherri) Mays, and Peggy Ann Mays (Steve) Davis; daughter-in-law, Judy Webb Mays; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

“Randy” George Randall Jackson, 68 of Hamilton, passed away Tuesday August 24, 2021 at St. Vincents Hospital in Birmingham. He served in the funeral industry for over 53 years and was the owner and operator of Hamilton and Hackleburg Funeral Homes. He also was the Marion Coroner for 34 years and loved to help as many people as he could regardless of their financial situation. Randy was a Husband, Father , Grandfather , Friend and Mentor to many. He is survived by, Wife: Paula Jackson, Sons: Kyle (Melissa) Jackson, Kody Jackson and Grandson: Karter Jackson.
Brother: Kenny (Sandra) Jackson, Sisters: June Willis and Helen McGuire. And his Funeral Home Family.
