Mordecai_Ann_20150210_01_2_smHamilton, AL – Miss Elizabeth Ann Mordecai, age 65, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, February 10th, 2015, at the Northwest Mississippi Medical Center-Hamilton in Hamilton, Alabama.

Visitation, 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 12th, 2015, at the Marion County Funeral Home in Hamilton, Alabama.  Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 12th, following visitation, at the funeral home chapel.  Bro. Ted Burleson officiating. Burial in Lamar Memory Gardens, Vernon, Lamar County, Alabama.

Elizabeth Ann Mordecai was born February 24th, 1949, in Marion County, Alabama, in Marion County, Alabama, to Marion Doris Mordecai and Kara Jordan Mordecai. She was a 1967 graduate of Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Alabama. Ann never married and chose to devote her life to her teaching profession. She loved her students and kept up with many of them even until their marriage and having children. She took trips with friends and loved to talk about the things she had seen and done. She enjoyed life and loved her many friends.

She is survived by very special friends and caregivers, Corinne Bobo, Anna Collins, Sharon Sulephen; aunt, Lucy Jordan; cousins, Ivela Mordecai, Mitzi Ford, Michael Jordan; a host of friends; her loving church family at Hamilton Church of Christ; and the co-workers at Hamilton Elementary School where she worked for thirty-nine years until she retired.

She is survived by very special friends and caregivers, Corinne Bobo, Anna Collins, Sharon Sulephen; aunt, Lucy Jordan; cousins, Ivela Mordecai, Mitzi Ford, and Michael Jordan; a host of friends; her loving church family at Hamilton Church of Christ; and the co-workers at Hamilton Elementary School where she worked for thirty-nine years until she retired.

Ann was preceded in death by her father, Marion Doris Mordecai (1913 – 1980) and her mother, Kara Jordan Mordecai (1916 – 1972).  Her parents were married January 26th, 1946.

Midlothian, VA – Carlos Michael Geller, age 18, Midlothian, VA passed away Tuesday, February 03, 2015 at Richmond, VA.

He was born in Aurora, IL on Monday, April 08, 1996 to Robert E Geller and Judy Holland Geller. His plans were to join the Marines, serve our country and to achieve his lifelong goal of becoming a K-9 Police Officer. Carlos was not able to fulfill his dream of joining law enforcement but the cities of Newport News, St. Petersburg, and Richmond, Virginia made him a honorary K-9 Handler. The Marines provided him with several metals and recognition of honor, bravery and courage. All of these honors and recognitions allowed him to fulfill his passion and dream.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 07, 2015, 6-9:00 p.m. at Marion County Funeral Home. The service will be Sunday February 08, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel with Bro. Regan Rye officiating. Burial will be in Shottsville Cemetery, Hamilton, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Bennie Oesvil Holland and Leo Gorski.

He leaves to treasure his memory, parents, Robert E. Geller and Judy Holland Geller; sister, Brittney Geller; grandparents, Betty Holland, Isabella Burwell, Ralph Geller, Sr.; aunts & uncles, Linda & Earl Payne, Rich & Blue Geller, Ralph Geller, Jr. & Brenda Zaucha, Regina & David Danikowski; a host of family and friends.

Sulligent, AL – Ms. Evell Hawkins, age 103, of Sulligent, Alabama, passed away Thursday, February 5th, 2015, at Generations of Vernon in Vernon, Alabama.

Visitation, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday Evening, February 6th, 2015, at the Otts Funeral Home in Sulligent, Alabama. Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 7th, 2015, at Otts Funeral Home Chapel in Sulligent. Bro. Edward Puckett and Bro. Glenn Hughes officiating. Burial in Prospect Cemetery.

Pallbearers, David Davis, DeWayne Hawkins, Keith Stanford, Dennis Downey, Tanner Hawkins and Ryan Price.

Evell Ray was born July 24th, 1911, in Monroe County, Mississippi, to the late John Henry and Violet Wright Ray. She married John Edison “Pete” Hawkins June 1st, 1930. Evell worked over 20 years at McCoy Manufacturing as a seamstress. She attended Sulligent First Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed working outside with her flowers and gardening and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by 2 sons, Joe Mack Hawkins, Sulligent, AL., and Johnny Hawkins, Sulligent, AL.; 1 daughter, Wilma Stanford, Sulligent, AL.; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; 1 niece, Jimmie Lou Dickey; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Violet Wright Ray; her husband, John Edison “Pete” Hawkins; 1 daughter, Hilda Terrell; 1 granddaughter, Kathy Davis Jordon; 2 brothers, Henry Ray, and Orell Ray; 3 sisters, Annie Ruth Ray, Mary Lou Noe, and Jean Lewis; and 1 son-in-law, Alton Terrell.*

Hamilton, AL – Mr. Clinton Ellis Barnes, age 71, of Guin, Alabama, in the Twin Community, passed away on Saturday, February 7th, 2015, at his residence.

Mr. Barnes was born March 8, 1943 to the late Purvy Ashmore Barnes and Audie Letecia Green Barnes.  Mr. Barnes was a resident of Guin for most of his life, a member of Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church, and was retired from Continental Conveyor after 30 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years and 10 months, Mrs. Imogene Rich Barnes of Twin, AL.; 1 daughter, Teresa (Allen) Hendrix, of Twin, AL.; 2 sons, Doug (Ann) Barnes, of Twin, AL.; and David (Deloris) Barnes, of Sulligent, AL; 7 grandchildren, Holly Hendrix, Dillon Barnes, Courtney Barnes, Hunter Barnes, Brittney Barnes, Justin Hendrix, and Garrett Barnes; 1 sister, Faye (Paul) Hunsinger; and 4 brothers, Clayton (Linda)  Barnes, Roy Harold Barnes, Freddy Barnes, and Eugene (Sue) Barnes.

Hamilton, AL – Ms. Pamela June Ballard Clark, age 69, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Thursday, January 29th, 2015, at her residence.

Pamela June Ballard Clark was born in Hamilton Alabama July 26th, 1945, to John Coy Ballard and Alma Hawkins Ballard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Clark; parents, John Coy Ballard and Alma Hawkins Clark.

She is survived by her children, Kerry (Teresa) Clark, Scott (Tina) Clark, Shae Clark (Jeff) Umfress; grandchildren, Garrett Clark, Jake Riley Umfress, Brody Clark, Brianne Kelly, Alaina Kelly; sibling, Patricia Armstrong; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Fred was born in Franklin County Alabama to the late Charlie & Lula Keller Bayrd.

He is survived by 1 son, James Bayrd; 1 daughter, Kristy Bayrd; 1 granddaughter, Keisha Bryant; 1 grandson, Dase Gardner; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Brown Bayrd; 2 brothers, Vester Keller, and Clarence Bayrd; 4 sisters, Polly Colburn, Hazel Bowling, Josie Scott, and Willodean Cantrell.

Lois Dyar Clement
(August 21, 1926 – January 27, 2015)

Funeral Services, officiated by Rev. Eddie Davidson, are to be held Friday, January 30, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with open visitation at 10:00 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church.  Burial will be alongside her husband at Shiloh Cemetery.

LOIS DYAR CLEMENT, age 88, of Hamilton, Alabama passed away January 27, 2015.  She was born August 21, 1926, Lois Ann Dyar to the late Robert and Myrtle Dyar in the Shiloh Community of Hamilton, Alabama.

She graduated Hamilton High School in 1944.  Mrs. Clement worked with Selective Service during World War II.  Following the end of World War II, she married her husband of 63 years the late Elbert Lee Clement February 15, 1946.  In later years she worked in the office of the late Joe B. Holley – Judge of Probate – Marion County, AL, served on the Board of Registrars for Marion County and as Judicial Assistant to the late Hon. Carlton W. Mayhall, Jr., Circuit Judge – 25th Judicial Circuit of Alabama until her retirement in 1994.  She was active in civic Clubs and was a member of Hamilton First Baptist Church.  She devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren, helping others and serving her community.  Everyone who knew her was blessed by her sweet spirit, kind words and gentle smile.

Survivors include; daughter, Vivian C. Sullenberger of Cairo, Georgia; son, Brent Lee Clement of Russellville, Alabama; daughter, Andrea C. Harbison of Hamilton, Alabama; grandchildren: Kent Eric Wiginton, Kyle Evan Wiginton, Keri Elise Wiginton, Ashley Nichole Clement Timmons, Kelly Marie Clement Vincent, James Ethan Harbison, Anna Lee Harbison, Sarah Lynn Harbison;  great-grandchildren, Ella Claire Wiginton, Lily Kate Wiginton, Eric Lee Wiginton, Conner Brett Vincent and Linlee Marie Vincent;  and sister Carolyn Dyar, Hamilton, Alabama.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Linda Holcomb Clement and her siblings, Stella Kelly, Inez Williams, Woodrow Dyar and Douglas Dyar.
