Hamilton, AL – George Pearce, age 68, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Monday, October 15th, 2018 at his residence.

Memorial service, 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 19th, 2018, at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton, Alabama.

George is survived by his wife, Dianne Pearce; son, John Paul “Hawkeye” Pearce; daughter, Misty Sanderson; brother, Randy (Lisa) Pearce; grandchildren, Seth Cochran, Skylar Cochran, and Sara Cochran; nephews, Casey Pearce and Dave Pearce; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyte and Peggy Pearce.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the American Legion Sonny James Post 165.

Editor’s note:

George Pearce was a soft-spoken and humble man who lived very quietly in Hamilton, Alabama. He was a country song writer, musician, and a member of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame.* He received many awards for his music and songwriting. Just one song I know that he co-wrote with another Hamilton native songwriter and musician, Bud McGuire was “Red River“. It was the #4 song on Side A of “The Closer You Get”, the seventh studio album by country music band Alabama, released in 1983.** I wish I knew all the songs that he wrote or co-wrote. I will list them here if anyone wants to submit them to me at jmays@49countynews.net.

To George’s family I send my deepest and heartfelt sympathy. May God Bless and Keep you as you go through this dark time I pray that He will be with you as you adjust and deal with your loss.

From me:  George will be greatly missed by his family and friends. I have known George since we were both children in Hamilton, Alabama. I have known that George was ill for some time so I wouldn’t call him back to go through the pain he’d been suffering even if I could. But I will miss him. I’ll miss his deep, slow way of talking. I’ll miss running into him at the Post Office and grocery store. I will miss just knowing that he lived quietly only a couple of miles from me. I was proud to call him my friend. Hamilton, AL – Karen Michelle Guyton Dillard, age 39, of Hamilton, Alabama passed away Sunday, August 12th, 2018.

Visitation, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 14th, 2018 at the Marion County Funeral Home. Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 15th, 2018 at the Marion County Funeral Home. Bro. David Smith and Bro. Jeff Armbrester officiating. Burial in Hamilton City Cemetery, Hamilton, Marion County, Alabama.

Karen was born in Marion County, Alabama, January 8th, 1979 to Teresa Guyton and the late Tommy Guyton.

Karen is survived by her mother, Teresa Guyton; son, Grant Johnson; twin sister, Kristen Guyton (Brent) Hall; her grandmother, Ava Lee Guyton; fiancé, Jonathan Goggans; uncles, Danny Duncum & Daryl Guyton; aunt, Melinda (Phillip) Franks; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Tommy Guyton; brother, Lynn Guyton; grandparents, Bill Guyton, Treva Mason, Leaborn Mason.

Marion County Funeral Home assisted the family.

Double Springs, AL – Jennifer Lynn Boykin Vickery, age 62, of Double Springs, Alabama, passed away June 23rd, 2018, at Walker Baptist Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Mrs. Vickery was born February 15th, 1956 in Athens, Alabama to the late Joe and Pauline Boykin. Lynn graduated from Winston County High School in 1975. She was dispatcher 6701 for the Winston County Sheriff’s office for the last 17 years and during this time received Dispatcher of the Year Award twice. Lynn was a member of Fraternal Order of Police. She loved spending time with her friends and was an avid Auburn fan. “WAR EAGLE”.

Visitation, Sunday, June 24th, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs, Alabama. Funeral service, Monday, June 25th, 2018 at 4:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Reverend Michael Tidwell, officiating. Burial in Whitehouse Cemetery in Brilliant, Alabama.

Lynn is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Joe Vickery; brothers, Tony Boykin and his wife Carol, and Mike Boykin and his wife Natalie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Pauline Boykin.

Pallbearers are Police Officers: Les Abbott, Josh Silas, Greg Rooks, Levi Brown, Derreck Cagle, and Jon Tidwell.

Honorary Pallbearers, representatives of the Winston County Sheriff Office, Double Springs Police Department, Haleyville Police Department, Addison Police Department, Arley Police Department, Lynn Police Department, Winston County Firefighters, and EMS Personnel.

Family requests donations be made to Whitehouse Cemetery fund.
