Ms. Edith Jean Smith Brown, age 87, (widow of the late Merlon Brown), passed away Wednesday, March 20th, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Visitation, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23rd, 2013, at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton, Alabama. Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 24th, 2013, at the Barnesville Freewill Baptist Church in the Barnesville Community, Hamilton, Marion County, Alabama. Burial in Hamilton Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Ms. Brown was born April 23rd, 2013, in Marion County, Alabama, to the late Pope L. and Nellie Ruth Hamilton “Doll” Smith. She was retired from Munsingwear, Inc. and was a Homemaker.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Glyndia (Tony) McAbee, and Elizabeth J. Fawcett; 1 son, David L. (Catharine) Brown; 4 grandchildren, Tracy, Gina, April, and Tony, Jr.; 5 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Claire, Austin, Ethan, Abby Grace, and Kyleigh; 2 sister-in-laws, Christene Brown, and Jean Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors, and especially her beloved church family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlon Brown; her parents, Pope and Nellie Ruth “Doll” Smith; and 2 brothers, Jack Smith, and James Smith.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Barnesville Cemetery.
