Died: Thursday, April 2, 2020, at his residence.

Family Only Graveside Service:  2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at the Beaver Creek Cemetery on Henson Springs Road, Guin, Alabama.

Visitation:  Body will Lie-in-state at the funeral home from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 26, 2019, at the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel in Guin, Alabama.

Funeral Service:  2:00 p.m., Friday, July 26, following visitation, at the funeral home chapel.

Burial:  Beaver Creek Cemetery, Lamar County, AL.

The Grandsons will be Pallbearers.

Born September 5, 1932, in Lamar County, Alabama, to Garfield and Lillie Hankins Stewart. Mertie was a member of First Baptist Church in Guin, Alabama. She was a member of the Eastern Star and lived in the Guin area most of her life. She loved singing, flowers, gardening and love her children and grandchildren.

Marion County, AL – Mr. James L. Salter, age 56, of Marion County, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, January 13th, 2015, at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield, Alabama.

Visitation, 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home on Friday, January 16th, 2015. Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 16th, 2015 at the Otts Funeral Home Chapel. Willie Joe Hollis officiating. Burial in Beaver Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers, Josh Riggins, Dustin Lipsey, Dondriell Riggins, Brian Wallace, Keenan McDonald and Tony Moore.

James was born September 13th, 1958, in Marion County, Alabama, to the late Ernest Jim and Eittie Mae Wallace Salter. He never met a stranger and had a heart big enough to love the world. He worked for many years as a roofer for LeDuke Roofing. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and working on cars. James was a member of Highway 278 Church of God.

He is survived by his brother, Sheddie Salter, Guin, AL.; 3 sisters, Ernestine Wallace, Guin, AL., Christine Lipsey, Guin, AL., and Maxine Riggins, Guin, AL.; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Jim and Eittie Mae Wallace Salter; infant brother; several aunts and uncles and other relatives and friends.*
