Richard J. “Ricky” Flippo, Sr. of Brilliant, Alabama

Age: 62

Born: March 26, 1958, in Alabama to Larkin Edward “Buck” and Viola Estes Flippo. Ricky was a member of Faith Fellowship Church of Winfield, he attended Brilliant High School and the University of Alabama. Ricky earned his paramedic degree and served Winfield and the local communities for over 20 years. Ricky was the owner/operator of “Rick’s Cleaning Service” for over 20 years. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and loyal friend.*

Died: August 13, 2020, at Princeton Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Bowen Funeral Home.

Survived by:

Children:

Ricky Flippo (Beth) of Brilliant, AL., Kristy Ayers (Eddie) of Winfield, AL., Dustin Flippo (Brandy) of Navarre Beach, FL.,

Grandchildren: Jenna Ayers, Carter Ayers, Abigail Ayers, and Aidan Flippo

Brother: Danny Flippo (Brenda) of KS.

And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Obituary:

John David McDonough, better known as Dave, of Winfield, Alabama.

Age: 82

Born: October 21, 1937, in Peoria, Illinois to Donald D. McDonough, Sr. and Doris M. Barclay McDonough. He was a 1955 graduate of Peoria High School and a graduate of Berean Bible College. Dave was a minister and delivered food for the McDonough Ministry and Foodbank in Newport News, Virginia. Mr. McDonough was a member of Faith Fellowship Church of Winfield; he taught the Men’s Bible Study class and was head-greeter for the church. Dave was a United States Marine Corp. Veteran and owner/operator of his own telecommunications business.

Died: Tuesday, August 11, 2020 in the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Wife of almost 50 years: Karen Stilley McDonough

Daughters: Cindy Nolen (Michael) of Winfield, AL., Kassandra Elbert of Newport News, VA., and Michelle M. Isaacson (Steve) of Newport News, VA.

Grandchildren: Melissa Gilmer (Jamie) of Sulligent, AL., Amy Wheeler (Kevin) of Sulligent, AL., Katelyn Coleman (David) of Birmingham, AL., Alyssa Faison (Brandon) of Newport News, VA., Samantha Crombine of Newport News, VA., and Megan Jackson (Tye Houston) of Newport News, VA.

Burial: Winfield City Cemetery, Winfield, Alabama.

Wife of nearly 54 years: Jaretta Goolsby McNutt of Winfield, AL.

Son: Grant McNutt (Leslie) of Muscle Shoals, AL.

*Bio: Mr. McNutt was born on July 11, 1946, in Haleyville, AL to Cecil and Mary Ellen McNutt. Mr. McNutt was a member of the Winfield First Baptist Church and a 1964 Winfield City High School graduate. Floyd served two terms on the Winfield City Board of Education and was a member of the Jaycees. He retired from the Alabama Army National Guard, and from N.T.N. Bower in Hamilton with 35 years of service. The rock of Floyd’s life was his relationship with Christ. He fiercely loved his family and was especially proud of his two grandsons. Since T-ball days, Floyd and his son Grant have enjoyed numerous days playing or watching sporting events, an interest they shared. Floyd was an avid outdoorsman enjoying golfing and fishing. Floyd’s battles with brain tumors ended after 11 years of surgeries and radiation. He fought with courage, strength, and determination, receiving his ultimate healing in the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ.*

Bio: Mr. Pendley was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Winfield, he served as a Eucharistic Minister and a Lector of the church. He attended high school in Oakman, Alabama, and earned his GED while serving in the United States Navy. After serving two tours in Vietnam and his discharge from the Navy, Harold went to work for Loomis Armored Car and began his police career at Oceanside Police Department. He enlisted into the Army National Guard and retired as Sergeant (E5) in June of 2009. Mr. Pendley worked for 38 years in law enforcement, serving Fayette County, Alabama as Chief Deputy, the City of Brilliant, Alabama as Chief of Police, and Marion County, Alabama as Lieutenant and Jail Administrator.*
