Guin, AL – Barbara Ellen Dye Shirley, age 69, of Guin, Alabama,  passed away Wednesday, September 12th, 2018 at her residence.

Visitation, 12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 15th, 2018 at the Bowen Funeral Home in Winfield, Alabama. Funeral service, 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 15th, 2018, following visitation, at  the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in the Goldmine Cemetery in Brilliant, Alabama. Brother Mike Beckon officiating.

She was born April 19th, 1949 in Arkansas, to the late Bill and Juanita Lee Dye.

She is survived by 2 sons, Jimmy Shirley (Linda), and Steve Shirley (Amanda); 2 daughters, Jamie Dawson (Jesse), and Jessica Brasseal (Chris); 9 grandchildren, Nick Shirley, AnnaKate Shirley, Adalyn Brasseal, Brody Dawson, Easton Dawson, Jaxon Dawson, Kimberley Stevens, Julie Umfress and Jayden Eads; 3 great-grandchildren, Wade Shirley, Essence Shirley and Oaklynn Sipes; 4 sisters; and 4 brothers; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Juanita Lee Dye, her husband, James Larry Shirley; 1 grandson, David Shirley; and 3 brothers, James, Frank, and Jerry Dye.

Winfield, AL – Mr. Herbert Harold West Sr., better known as “Harold”, age 79, of Winfield, Alabama passed away on Saturday, June 9th, 2018 at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Houston West and Patsy Bonds West. Mr. West was born in Jasper, AL, and has been a lifelong resident of Winfield. He was a 1956 graduate of Winfield City High School, and a 1960 graduate of the University of Alabama. His father started in the gas business as a Gulf Oil Distributor in 1934 and continued to work with Harold until 1985. Harold was first a Gulf Oil Jobber, then with BP, Citgo and Chevron. He served on the Presidential Advisory Board for Citgo for several years. He was also involved with the GOWMA (Gulf Oil Wholesale Marketers Association) for many years, serving as president for three years. Mr. West served on the Alabama Battleship Commission for eight years and was currently serving on the Winfield State Bank and Trust Board of Directors. Harold was a member of Delta Chi fraternity, the Winfield Lions Club and the Winfield Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Wilson West; a son, Herbert Harold West Jr. “Hal”, (Kay) of Birmingham, AL.; daughters, Mitzi Carole West, (Forrest Johnston) of Winfield, and Allyson West Sutter (Dan) of Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Katherine Edwards West, Margaret West Casey (Ryan), Hallie Elizabeth West, William Huston West, and Andrew West Sutter; a brother, William Riley “Bill” West (Linda) of Fairhope, AL.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service, 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12th, 2018 from the Winfield First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. Brother Earl Freeman will officiate. Visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday night, June 11th, 2018 at the church.

In Lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Winfield First United Methodist Church or to the Northwest Alabama Kidney Foundation at State Bank and Trust.

Winfield, AL – Mrs. Joy Leann Stocks Dickinson, age 54, of Winfield, Alabama passed away Thursday, June 7th, 2018 at her residence.

She was a 1982 graduate of Moline High School in Moline, Illinois. Joy was a Doctors Assistant for Dr. William Lenahan for over 28 years.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Roger Dickinson, son, Aaron Dickinson (Whittney), granddaughter, Kendall Dickinson, and mother, Rachel Stocks, all of Winfield, sisters in law, Shirley Sparks of Moline, IL, Brenda Woodruff of Milan, IL, Sally Hines (Ron) of Milan, IL, Elke Clarke (Larry) of Milan, IL, cousins, Debbie Slater (Jack) and Carol Perez (John) both of Moline, IL, and her “best friend” pet Shelton, who continually provided emotional support for Joy.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Stocks and an infant brother, Paul Ray Stocks. Funeral services for Mrs. Dickinson will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018 from the Bowen Funeral Home chapel with burial to follow in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday June 10, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home. Eddie Ayers will serve as officiating minister.

Winfield, AL – Mrs. Faye Fowler, age 86, of Winfield, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, from the Brilliant United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Rev. Jeremy Harris will officiate. The visitation will be from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. (service time) on Sunday at the Church.

Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by her parents, Vester Whitley Vaughn and Hassie Thacker Vaughn, her husband Grier Fowler, a daughter, Georgia Faye McNeil, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
