Winfield, AL – Mr. Jason Clarence Elliott, Jr., better known to some as “JC or Junior” age 86, of Winfield, passed away Saturday, June 16th, 2018 at the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.

J. C. was a United States Army Veteran, a member of the American Legion, Post 100 in Winfield, AL, and a member of the Union Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He is retired from Continental Conveyor where he worked as a forklift operator.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Elliott, children, Dewayne Harrison (Sandy), Chris Harrison (BJ), Vicky Parker (Jeff), Lisa Simmons (Michael), Shelly Welch (Joey), grandchildren, Justin and Julie Elliott, that he raised as his own, and a host of other grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters, Alice McCormick (Gordan), Linda Guy, Cricket Goodwin, brother, Robert Elliott, sisters-in-law, Joyce Harkins, Joan Harbin and Edith Walker (Bill), brother-in-law, Alfred Trimm and a host of other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Elliott is preceded in death by his parents, Jason Clarence, Sr, and Flora Mae Vaughn Elliott, son, David Allen Elliott, sister, Mary Elliott Mobley, brothers, Buford Elliott and Roger Elliott, sister-in-law, Brenda Trimm, brothers-in-law, Brooks “Tater” Trimm, Milford Trimm, and Ray Trimm.

Funeral services for Mr. Elliott will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20th, 2018 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win. Military honors will be presented at the graveside. Brother Donald Smith will be the officiating minister. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 20th, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. (service time) at the funeral home. Brother Donald Smith will be the officiating minister.

Winfield, AL – Mrs. Patricia “Patsy” Roberts Brasher, age 82 of Winfield, passed away and was reunited with the love of her life on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Patsy and Max were married for 65 years.
Mrs. Brasher was a member of the Winfield First United Methodist Church and retired from GTE telephone company after 30 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband Max C. Brasher, her parents, Joe Murphy and Sally Elizabeth Roberts, grandson Noah Brasher and a brother, Richard A. Roberts.
She is survived by her sons, J. Max “Little Max” Brasher (Pam) and Allen Brasher (Melissa) both of Winfield, grandchildren, Clay Brasher (Kristen) of New York, Meagan Emerson of Hodges and Madison Brasher of Winfield, great-grandchildren, Alyssa Emerson, and one “on the way”, Thomas Clay Brasher, brothers, Tom Roberts (Martha) of Birmingham, Joe Roberts (Mindy) of Sandy Springs, Maryland, sister in-laws, Jane Roberts of Canfield, OH, Shirley Ann Gladden (George Ray) of Fayette, brother in-laws, Dale Brasher, Sr. of Winfield, John Brasher (Doris) of Fayette, special caregiver, Michelle Gunnin and grand pups, Tide and Oliver.
Funeral services for Mrs. Brasher will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 12:00 noon from the Winfield First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the McConnell Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon (service time) on Thursday at the church. Bro. Earl Freeman and Tom Roberts will officiate. Ms. Whitehead is survived by her husband of 67 years, I.J. Visitation, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.,  Sunday, February 19th, 2017, at the Bowen Funeral Home in Winfield, Alabama.  Funeral service, 3:00 p.m., Sunday following the visitation, at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel.  Brother Venlon Bradford officiating.  Burial in the Goodwater Cemetery.

Bobby Lacy, Brad Cunningham, Greg Moore, Jason Norris, Greg Guin, Chris Newman, Mark McDonald and Tony Nicholson serving as active pallbearers; Dale Spruiell, Duell Holloway, Donald Shelton, Jeff Bostick, Bob Henger and Solon Cunningham serving as honorary pallbearers.

Ms. Robertson earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, devoting more than 40 years to her profession; most recently serving as the Director of Nurses at Winfield Carraway Hospital for many years.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles Robertson; son, Jeff (Kerri) Robertson; grandchildren, Kelly Rose Lindsey, (Matthew), Kensey Robertson, and Lane Robertson; great-grandson, Becton Brown; sisters, Danny Lou Spann, Bonnie Campbell, and Judy May; brothers, Benny Spann and Billy Mack Spann; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Roston Spann and Myrtie Bell Webster Spann; sisters, Polly Smith, Sarah Bull, and Reba Wheeler, and a brother, Glenn Spann.

The family extends special thanks to all of the wonderful nurses and staff at Fayette Long Term Care Center for their kind and loving care.  In lieu of flowers, a nursing scholarship fund has been set up in memory of Ms. Robertson, the family request that donations be made to the Citizens Bank of Winfield in memory of Ms. Robertson.

Winfield, AL – Ms. Sarah Lois Nuby Harris, age 94, of Winfield, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, October 5th, 2016.

Visitation, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 7th, 2016, at the Bowen Funeral Home.  Funeral service, 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 7th, 2016, at the Bowen Funeral Home, in Winfield, Alabama. Burial in West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win, Marion County, Alabama.

Ms. Harris was born on November 10, 1921. She was a long time resident of Winfield, she was a proud business owner and took pride in helping others in the community. Lois loved her family, her church family and her garden, she spent many hours tending to her beautiful flower gardens.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Logan Nuby and Sarah Melinda Nuby, her faithful and loving husband, Rex Harris, three brothers, Lewis Nuby, Curtis Nuby, and Malory Nuby, and a sister, Velma Hardin.

She is survived by her three children, Sonja Bostick, Larry Harris, and Rheeda Clark (Jim), 8 grandchildren, Zanna Freeman (John O.), Chet Bostick (Shelly), Jeff Bostick (Mandy), Andrea Samuels (Terry), Juliette Harris, Sasha Harris, Sarah Beth Clark, Kristin Dickinson, and Daniel Clark and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Winfield, AL – Mr. Michael Lawrence Butler, age 36 of Winfield, kept the faith, won the fight, and passed to Heaven on September 3, 2016. Michael was a 1998 graduate of Marion County High School, a devoted and loving husband, father, peace officer, and friend to all who knew him. Michael served our communities in many capacities; currently, a Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy, previously, a policeman for the City of Winfield, a 2007 graduate of S.W.A.T. School, and a Volunteer Fireman for the City of Winfield. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Sylvester Scott Gee and Vergie Gee, and Gaines and Evelyn Butler. Michael is survived by his wife, Miranda May Butler and their daughters, Anna Beth and Caroline Butler, his father and step mother, Jim and Barbara Butler, all of the Twin community, his mother, Shirley Butler of Mississippi, mother and father in law, Terry and Reba Miller May, of the Twin community, a brother, Arnie Creekmore, of Kentucky, sisters, Pam and Corey Bennett of New Mexico, Rhonda and Scott Campbell of Mississippi, and Kaiya Norton of South Carolina, nieces, Alexis and Lauren Bennett and Brandi Norton, and nephews, Conner Campbell, and Jeremy and Rian Norton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6th, 2016 from the Winfield First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. Phillip Miles, Jamie Jeffreys, and Adrian Garner will be the officiating ministers. Jason Clifton and statewide law enforcement officers will preside over Law Enforcement Honors committal services at the graveside.
