Robert William Vance, Jr. of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Age:  90

Born:  November 9, 1929, in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Robert William Vance and Bridget Donnelly Vance.

Died:  Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at Heritage Nursing Care and Rehab in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Graveside Service:  10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama.

Officiating:  Father Frank Muscolino.

Following the service, family and friends are invited to attend a luncheon at Elmwood Chapel.

Survived By:

Daughter:  Linda Vance Dunn (Bud), of Tuscaloosa, AL.

Sons:

Mike Vance (Kay), Arley, AL.

Tim Vance (Kathy), Atlanta, GA.

Grandsons:

Andrew (Melanie), Winston-Salem, N.C.

Nicholas (Nicole), Charlotte, N.C.

Son:  Robert William “Bill” Vance, III

Parents:  Robert William Vance and Bridget “Bea” Donnelly Vance

Sister:  Helen Vance Jones.

Bio:  Robert attended St. Paul’s Catholic Elementary School, Phillips High School and graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a degree in accounting. He and his wife of 70 years, Elizabeth Stillwell Vance, who he affectionately called “Libby,” lived for many years in Birmingham, Alabama. Robert was an entrepreneur, owning and operating Melody Cleaners on Graymont Avenue in Birmingham. He also held the Certified Internal Auditor professional designation and worked for Union 76 Oil Company, Moore Handley and International Paper as an internal auditor. Bob and Elizabeth lived in Savannah, Georgia, for 10 years before retiring to Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 1993. They also enjoyed vacationing for 42 wonderful years at their cabin in Sunnyside Beach, Florida. Robert coached little league baseball for nine years, was a Boy Scout leader for several years, and was an avid vegetable gardener and animal lover.  Robert attended St. Francis of Assisi University Parish Church in Tuscaloosa.*

Visitation, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., Saturday evening, November 26th, 2016, at New Bethel Church.  Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 27th, 2016, at New Bethel Church.  Burial in New Bethel Cemetery.

Ms. Presley is survived by her husband, James Wendel Presley; 1 daughter, Dania Jean (Joey) Smith; 2 sons, Jamie Micheal Kenneth Presley, and Josh (Ashley) Presley; grandchildren, Jordan (Cheyenne) Franks, Tristan Quinn and Samantha Quinn; great-grandchild, Ezra Franks; brothers, Robert Sartin, Jimmy Sartin and Bill Sartin; sisters, Estella Sartin Cook and Vicki Sartin Logan; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James “Jim” and Floy Bell Loveless Sartin; brothers, Floy Sartin, Larry Junior Sartin, and Edward Sartin; sisters, Doris Sartin, Evelyn Louise Sartin Robinson, and Avie Lee Sartin Burleson.
