(Author’s Personal Note:  Ms. Avery had a brilliant mind and loved speaking to people about Marion County and the surrounding people and their history.  I had the privilege of speaking with Ms. Avery at a Hackleburg Civitan’s meeting in Hackleburg, Alabama a couple of years ago.  Her son, Paul Emerson, had ask me to speak about our 49 County News.Net but after my conversation with his mom, Ms. Avery, I felt that I was ‘way’ out of my league!  She was so articulate and interesting concerning the history of our area.  A ‘treasure’ has been lost and she will be greatly missed.  Judy Webb Mays)
