Winfield, AL – Ms. Bessie Chambless Franks, age 89, of Winfield, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, July 29th, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Winfield, Alabama.

Visitation, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Saturday, August 2nd, 2014, at the Otts Funeral Home in Sulligent, Alabama.  Funeral service, 4:00 p.m., Sunday evening, August 3rd, 2014, at the Otts Funeral Home Chapel.  Bro. Danny Millican officiating.  Burial in the Northwest Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win, Alabama.  Pallbearers, Christopher Shawn Franks, Northpoint, AL., Jason Franks, Hubbertville, AL., Caleb Franks, Northport, AL., Seth Franks, Northport, AL., William Brand, Fayette, AL. and David Brand, Fayette, AL.

Ms. Franks was born October 18th, 1924, to the late William and Rosie Tidwell Chambless.  She was a housewife and attended school in Fayette, Alabama.  She lived on Colony Street in Winfield, Alabama for the last 40 years.  Bessie was an avid gardener and loved to participate in the home shopping network from Hamilton on WMTY TV.  She was a member of the Baptist Church at Gu-win, Alabama.

She is survived by 1 son, Ronald G. (Doris) Franks, Fargo, N.D.; 1 daughter, Cathy (Mike) Cannon, Beaverton, AL.; 3 grandsons, Shawn, Jason and Matt Franks; and several great-grandchildren; Joe Herron, long time and close friend; 2 sisters, Magdelene Brand, and Luvernia Hassle, both of Fayette, AL.; 2 brothers, Delmus Chambless of Guin, AL., and B. C. Chambless of Mississippi; 3 step-siblings, Justin, Tommy, and Teddy Chambless, all of Fayette, AL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Rosie Tidwell Chambless; and her late husband Eugene Franks.

Ms. Ora Mae Colburn, age 98, of Guin, Alabama, passed away, Wednesday, February 13th, 2013, in the Golden Living Center in Winfield, Alabama.

Visitation, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 14th, 2013, at the Norwood Funeral Home, Guin, Alabama.  Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 15th, 2013, at the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel in Guin, Alabama.  Bro. James Walden and Bro. Dwayne Hammontree officiating.  Burial in the Guin City Cemetery, Guin, Marion County, Alabama.

Ms. Colburn was born in Hamilton, Alabama to the late David and Norma Lee (Neé Pugh) Knight.  She was the widow of the late Elmer Colburn.  She had lived in Guin, Alabama most of her life and was a member of the Guin Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by 4 daughters, Jewell Eads, Guin, AL., Jessie Miles, Winfield, AL., Peggy Brown, Hamilton, AL., and Jo Ann Logan, Oneonta, AL.; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Norma Lee (Neé Pugh) Knight; her husband, Elmer Colburn; 1 daughter, Ida Lou Addison; 2 sisters; and 3 brothers.
