Ms. Vickie Smith Barnes, age 53, of Guin, Alabama, passed away Thursday, September 12th, 2013 at her residence.

Visitation, 1:30 -2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 14th, 2013, at the Norwood Funeral Home in Guin, Alabama. Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 14th, 2013, at the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel following visitation. Bro. Kenny Hatcher officiating. Burial in the Guin City Cemetery.

Ms. Barnes was born in Guin, Marion County, Alabama, to Thomas Harold and Clarice Harrod Smith. She was a member of the Greensprings Missionary Baptist Church. Vickie had worked as a nurse for 30 years.*

She is survived by her husband, Craig Barnes of Guin, AL.; 1 daughter, Amy (Joseph) Harris of Caledonia, MS.; 1 son, Danial Barnes of Guin, AL.; her mother, Clarice Smith of Guin, AL.; 1 sister, Liz (G.B.) Blaylock of Guin, AL.; 3 brothers-in-law, Jeff Barnes, Mark Barnes, and Kent Barnes, all of Guin, AL.; 4 grandchildren, Caleb Harris, Hailey Harris, Casey Harris, and Will Barnes; 1 niece, Lisa (Scott) Colburn of Guin, AL.; and 1 nephew, Bobby (Tammy) Blaylock of Winfield, AL.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Harold Smith; her mother-in-law, Millie Gray Barnes; and her father-in-law, James Paul Barnes.

Ms. Elaine Walker Junkin, age 85, passed Friday, July 19th, 2013, at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Guin, Alabama.

Visitation, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 21st, 2013, at the Guin First Baptist Church, Guin, Alabama.  Funeral service, 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 22nd, 2013, at the Guin First Baptist Church, Guin, Alabama.  Dr. Kenny Hatcher, Bro. Payton Junkin, and Bro. Scott Stokes officiating.  Burial in the Guin City Cemetery, Guin, Marion County, Alabama.

Ms. Junkin was born in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Claude and Maggie McCool Walker.  She was a graduate of Livingston University (UWA), Livingston, Alabama, and the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  She was a resident of Guin, Alabama since 1954.  She served as Business Education teacher and Librarian for 35 years, with 30 of those years in Marion County, Alabama.  She served the Town of Guin, Alabama as a City Council member for 16 years.  She was a charter member of the En Avant Study Club and was a member of the North West Regional Library Board.  Ms. Junkin began the Marion County High School (MCHS) Community Library in 1974 as a school/public library.

She is survived by her husband, James Hubert Junkin of Guin, AL.; 1 daughter, Bridgett Alena Junkin of Pell City, AL.; 2 sons, Roger Stanley “Stan” (Dianna) Junkin of Guin, AL., and Lance Hubert (Christie) Junkin of Guin, AL; 7 grandchildren, Trenton (Jessica) Junkin, Kacy Junkin, Payton (Heather) Junkin, Hayden Junkin, Jordan Junkin, Walker Junkin and Abbie Grace Junkin; and 6 great-grandchildren, Brooks Junkin, Bekah Joy Junkin, Rowen Junkin, Holden Junkin, Paxton Junkin, and Briggs Junkin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Maggie McCool Walker; 1 sister, Lois Welch; and 1 brother, Lavern Walker.*

He is survived by his wife, Tommie Lee Perkins Franks of Guin, AL.; 2 sons, Gerald D. (Joy) Franks of Mobile, AL., and David H. (Judy) Franks of Hamilton, AL.; 1 granddaughter, Leslie F. (Jon) Raper of Northport, AL.; 1 great-grandson, Jon Hayden Raper; 1 sister, Willa Mae Robertson of Guin, AL.; and 3 brothers, Bill Franks of Guin, AL., Jack Franks of Trussville, AL., and Gordon Franks of Hackleburg, AL.

Mr. Lowell Farris Franks, age 78, of Guin, (the Twin Community), Alabama, passed away Friday, October 19th, 2012, at Golden Living Center in Winfield, Alabama.

Visitation, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., Sunday, October 21st, 2012, at Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church.  Funeral service, 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 21st,  following visitation at the church.  Bro. Mike Beckham officiating.  Burial in Mt. Olive FWB Cemetery.  Pallbearers, Bill Atkinson, Randy Silas, Kenny Franks, Kyle Franks, Todd Franks, and Danny Green. 

Mr. Franks was born September 2nd, 1934, to Vader and Sybil Markham Franks.  He was a 1952 graduate of Marion County High School,  was retired from 3M Company, and was a member of the Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church.

He is survived by 1 son, Tim (Marcia) Franks, Winfield, AL.; 2 grandchildren, Blake (Lauren) Franks, and Lisa Ann Franks; 1 great-grandchild, Dani Kate Franks; 1 brother, Hansel (Carolyn) Franks, Guin, AL.; 1 sister, Louise Estes, Denver, CO.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Corbitt Thomas Kennedy, age 61, of Guin, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, October 9th, 2012, at his residence.

Mr. Kennedy was born April 29th, 1951, in Norfolk Virginia to Dave and Mildred Ala Trogdon Kennedy.

He is survived by 2 sons, Jonathan Kennedy, and Jason Sheare; 2 daughters, Lori Canup, and Jade Kennedy; and 9 grandkids.

Macy Bozeman, age 85, of Guin, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, May 15th, 2012 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield, Alabama.

Ms. Bozeman was born in Guin, Alabama,  April 3, 1927 to the late William Marvin and Paula Aldridge Bozeman.  She had lived in the Pea Ridge Community all of her life and was a member of the Liberty Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by 1 sister, Tommie Lou Martin of Guin, AL.; 1 brother, Morgan Riley Bozeman of Guin, AL.; and a host of Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Marvin and Paula Aldridge Bozeman; 1 sister, Lillian Lynch; and 3 brothers, Theron, Ray and Fred Bozeman.

John W. Bill Sanderson, age 86, of Guin, Alabama, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012, at his residence.

Mr. Sanderson was born in Guin, Alabama to the late Earl Ottis and Maude Lovella Mayo Sanderson.  He had lived in Guin most of his life, was a Mason, a Veteran of WWII, having served in the US Navy.  He was retired from the 3M Company.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Alexander Sanderson; 1 daughter, Dianne Medley, Guin, AL.; and 1 son, Randy Sanderson, Guin, AL.; 4 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother, Raiford Sanderson, of Jasper, AL.

Jack was born in Lamar County, Alabama, the Son of the late John and Lillie Webb Morrow.  He had lived in Guin and Lamar County, Alabama most of his life.  He was a Veteran of the US Army, and he served in WW II.  He attended Webb Baptist Church.

He is survived by his step-mother, Gladys Webb Morrow of Guin, AL, 2 sisters, Audine Morrow Jordan of Vernon, AL., and Lanetta (Jimmy) Crowe of Northport, AL.; 1 brother, Dwight (Mary Dayton) Morrow of Hartselle, AL.; 1 sister-in-law, Eunice Morrow; several nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins, other relativess and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lillie Webb Morrow; 3 brothers, Xavier, Cleo and Thermon Morrow, and a brother-in-law, Bernard Jordan.
