Woodville, AL – Ms. Shirley Ann Smith Johnson, age 75, of Woodville, Alabama, passed away Thursday, May 26th, 2016 at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama.

Visitation, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., Saturday, May 28th, 2016 at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton, Alabama.  Funeral Service, 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 29th, 2016, at the funeral home chapel.  Burial in Hamilton Memory Gardens in Hamilton, Alabama.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Alma Smith.

(Author’s Note) Walt and Shirley Johnson were well-known and liked in Hamilton, having owned several businesses here. One of which was “Fingers & Wings” on Highway 17 near the Journal Record.  I worked with Shirley when she ran the “Bama Oil” station in Weston (a/k/a “The Red Ace”). Sulligent, AL – Mr. J.C. “Jake” Hawkins, age 73, of Sulligent, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, August 19th, 2015 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Hamilton, Alabama.

Visitation, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening, August 20th, 2015, at the Otts Funeral Home, in Sulligent, Alabama.  Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 21st, 2015, at the Otts funeral home chapel.  Bro. Edward Puckett and Bro. B.J. Mills officiating.  Burial in Pickle Cemetery, Sipsey Fork, Monroe County, Mississippi.

Jake was born October 24th, 1941, in Lamar County, Alabama, to the late Clarence “Driver” and Effie Pickle Hawkins.  He was of the Baptist faith.  Jake previously worked for Walker Manufacturing and also worked and retired from the Lamar County Commission.  In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his son, James (Rainey) Hawkins, Sulligent, AL.; daughters, Janice (Raymond) Spence, Beaverton, AL., and Patricia Lopez, Lillington, N.C.; grandchildren, Bryan (Jessy) Woods, Heather Spence, Jessie Hawkins, Austin Hawkins, Alicia Hawkins, and Charles Hawkins; brothers, Dennis (Grace) Hawkins, Sulligent, AL., and Bobby Hawkins, Sulligent, AL.; sister, Annie Lou Knight, Guin, AL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence “Driver” Hawkins and Effie Pickle Hawkins; his wife, Cordie Mae Hawkins; and brother, Jimmy Hawkins.

Mr. Thomas L. “Tommy” Guyton, Sr., age 57, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Sunday, August 18th, 2013 at Marion Regional Medical Center, Hamilton, Alabama.

Tommy was born October 9th, 1955, in Marion County, Alabama, to William “Bill” and Ava Lee Guyton.

Visitation, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., Tuesday evening, August 20th, 2013, at the Marion County Funeral Home, Hamilton, Alabama.  Funeral service, 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 21st, 2013, at the Marion County Funeral Home.  Bro. Mac Buttram, Bro. Jeff Armbrester and Louie G. Scales, Jr. officiating.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Duncum Guyton; 2 children, Kristen Guyton (Brent) Hall, and Karen Guyton Dillard; 6 grandchildren, Grant, Hayden, Austin, Tyson, Madison, and Ashlynn; his mother, Ava Lee Guyton; his mother-in-law, Treva Mason; 1 sister, Melinda (Phillip) Franks: and 1 brother, Daryl Guyton; nieces & nephews, Rachel (Caleb) Chaffin,  Zacharie Guyton, Beth Taylor: and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by 1 son, Thomas “Lynn” Guyton, Jr.; his father, William A. “Bill” Guyton; 1 brother, Austin Craig Guyton, and his grandparents, William Austin and Nannie Guyton.
