Sulligent, AL – Bro. Mutt Cantrell, age 88, of Sulligent, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, April 21st, 2015, peacefully at his residence. 

Visitation, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening, April 23rd, 2015, at the Otts Funeral Home in Sulligent, Alabama.  Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 24th, 2015, at the Otts Funeral Home Chapel.  Bro. Edward Puckett and Bro. Stanley Blaylock officiating.  Burial in Kingsville Cemetery, Lamar County, Alabama.

Pallbearers, Alan Cantrell, Mitch Cantrell, Steve Morton, Paul McLemore, Ricky Duncan, and Mike Otts. Honorary pallbearers, James Whitlock, Junior Woodham, Dexter Gazaway, Danny Otts, & Staff at Otts Funeral Home ,and Wilburn Hollis.

“Mutt” was born as William Carmack Cantrell, May 11th, 1926, in Marion County, Alabama, to the late William “Bill” and Maggie Mae Terrell Cantrell.  During his life, he held many titles such as a retired Truck Driver, Funeral Director’s Assistant for 17 years at Otts Funeral Home, Pastor at Gattman Holiness Church for many years and veteran soldier in the US Army. He enjoyed gardening, yard work and reading the Bible.

He is survived by his wife, Magaline Cantrell, Sulligent, AL.; 1 brother, Gene (Rebecca) Cantrell, Sulligent, AL.; 2 grandsons, Randal (Robbie) Cantrell, Sulligent, AL., and Eric (Crystal) Cantrell, Detroit, AL.; 4 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Skylar, Riley and Alexa Cantrell; 1 daughter-in-law, Cynthia (Steve) Morton, Sulligent, AL.; his Gattman Holiness Church Family; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” and Maggie Mae Terrell Cantrell; 1 son, Wayne Cantrell; 2 brothers, James Cantrell, and Roger Cantrell; and 3 sisters, Velma Crenshaw, Vera Sanderson and Nell Anthony.

Sulligent, AL – Ms. Marcelle Byrd Gilmer, age 80, of Sulligent, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015, at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield, Alabama.

Visitation, 1:00 p.m., Sunday, April 26th, 2015, at the Otts Funeral Home in Sulligent, Alabama.  Funeral service, 3:00 p.m., April 26th, 2015, following visitation, at the Otts Funeral Home Chapel.  Bro. Jeff Chaffin officiating.  Burial in Shiloh Cemetery.

Marcelle was born April 30th, 1034, in Marion County, Alabama, to the late J.C. and Margaret Sexton Byrd.  She was a 1952 graduate of Hamilton High School and attended Auburn University. She worked as a secretary for her husband at Gilmer Realty. She loved cats and dogs, sewing and growing flowers. Marcelle was a member of Sulligent First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Gilmer of Sulligent, AL.; 1 son, Charlie Gilmer of Vernon, AL.; and 1 daughter, Cassandra Moore of Guin, AL.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents,  J.C. and Margaret Sexton Byrd; and 1 brother, Herb Byrd.

Mr. Wallace was born July 21st, 1941, in Lamar County, Alabama, to the late Earlie G. and Lestie Hollis Wallace. He was a member of Roxanna Baptist Church. He attended Lamar County Training School, and was retired from Winfield Cotton Mill. He also enjoyed farming, gardening and carpentry.*

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Wallace, Beaverton, AL.; his daughters, Sheila Wallace, Birmingham, AL., Michelle (Freddie) Ray, Birmingham, AL.; honorary daughter, Sandra Marchbanks, Beaverton, AL.; 2 grandchildren, Tiara Corder, and Briona Ray; 1 brother, Willie Bob (Josephine) Wallace, Mount Clemens, MI.; 4 sisters, Bertha Wallace, Beaverton, AL., Dorothy Harrington, Mount Clemens, MI., Paralee Truelove, Lorain, OH., Marion Austin, Sheffield Lake, OH.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Cindy was born on April 22, 1962 to the late Robert Eugene Johnson, Sr. and Doris Teague Johnson. She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church and a resident of the Vernon area. She loved spending time with family and friends, attending church, and playing cards.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Gosa, Jr. of Vernon, AL.; 1 daughter, Tanya VanWinkle of Moline, IL.; 1 son, Christopher VanWinkle of Moline, IL,; 2 step-daughters, Tara Dixon and Samantha Dixon, both of Davenport, IA.; 2 sisters, Linda Evans and Dorothy Ross, both of Chesnee, SC.; and 1 brother, Robert Johnson Jr. of Spartanburg, SC.; and 7 grandchildren: Kallie Dixon, Reagan VanWinkle, Lucas Shadden, Ethan Shadden, Gracie VanWinkle, Joshua VanWinkle, and Schuylar Gunter.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Robert Eugene Johnson, Sr. and Doris Teague Johnson.
