Winfield, AL – Mr. Michael Lawrence Butler, age 36 of Winfield, kept the faith, won the fight, and passed to Heaven on September 3, 2016. Michael was a 1998 graduate of Marion County High School, a devoted and loving husband, father, peace officer, and friend to all who knew him. Michael served our communities in many capacities; currently, a Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy, previously, a policeman for the City of Winfield, a 2007 graduate of S.W.A.T. School, and a Volunteer Fireman for the City of Winfield. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Sylvester Scott Gee and Vergie Gee, and Gaines and Evelyn Butler. Michael is survived by his wife, Miranda May Butler and their daughters, Anna Beth and Caroline Butler, his father and step mother, Jim and Barbara Butler, all of the Twin community, his mother, Shirley Butler of Mississippi, mother and father in law, Terry and Reba Miller May, of the Twin community, a brother, Arnie Creekmore, of Kentucky, sisters, Pam and Corey Bennett of New Mexico, Rhonda and Scott Campbell of Mississippi, and Kaiya Norton of South Carolina, nieces, Alexis and Lauren Bennett and Brandi Norton, and nephews, Conner Campbell, and Jeremy and Rian Norton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6th, 2016 from the Winfield First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. Phillip Miles, Jamie Jeffreys, and Adrian Garner will be the officiating ministers. Jason Clifton and statewide law enforcement officers will preside over Law Enforcement Honors committal services at the graveside. The visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday at the Winfield First Baptist church. Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Butler family.
