ISHPEMING, MI – Rosa Belle “Rosie” Jeffreys, age 95, an Ishpeming resident since 2000, passed away Saturday July 29, 2017 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility where she had resided since 2006.

Rosa is survived by 2 children: Opal (Joe) Giroux and Hollis (Willow) Jeffreys, 8 grandchildren, including: Michael (Tanya) Giroux, Jeffrey (Ann) Giroux and James (Carol) Giroux, 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Victor “Vic” Jeffreys.

Eddie Courington
Nov. 2, 1982 – Dec. 12th, 2015
Adrian, Michigan

Edward Allen Courington II, “Eddie”, passed away suddenly December 12, 2015, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor as a result of chronic heart disease.
Eddie was born on November 2, 1982, in Adrian, Michigan, to Edward and Vicki (Rowe) Courington. He attended school in Adrian and worked most of his adult life alongside his father at Kroger.
Eddie loved sports; especially the University of Michigan, Detroit Redwings and Detroit Tigers. But more than anything else, Eddie loved coaching and watching his kids play any number of sports including Jon pitching, Kate catching, Megan playing boy’s football at Maple Stadium and Hailey playing softball.
He also loved spending time with his extended family every summer camping in Harrisville, Michigan.
He was a proud dad and a loyal protector to all the women in his life. If anyone needed help, Eddie was there. His was a giant personality that took over a room when he entered. He always left people laughing.
Besides his parents, Eddie is survived by the love of his life, Angie Hooper, his brothers Jack (Carrie) and Rheubin Courington of Adrian and sister Kim (Kris Rupert)Courington of Jackson; daughters Megan and Hailey, stepchildren Jon Hooper and Kaitlyn Snead and honorary sister Tammy Walker from St. Augustine, Florida. Also left to miss Eddie are his many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins and countless friends from all walks of life. Eddie never met a stranger.
Greeting Eddie at Heaven’s gates were his grandparents Olen and Lois Courington and Berneice and William Rowe.
Funeral services for Eddie will be on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian, with Pastor Greg Burdine officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian. James Leland “Jim” Stevenson

Jackson, MI – Mr. James Leland “Jim” Stevenson, age 84, of Jackson, Michigan, passed away peacefully, June 17th, 2015, surrounded by his family.

“Jim” was born February 16th, 1931, in Adrian, Michigan, to Leland A. and Evelyn (Wheaton) Stevenson. He was a 1949 graduate of Adrian High School. He was a mechanical draftsman for over 30 years in Jackson and Lenawee counties.

He is survived by 2 children, Mark, Mesa, AZ., and Marjorie (Mark) Ingraham, Dimondale, Windsor Charter Township, MI.; step-children, Charles (Sandra) Pope, Hamilton, AL., and Michael Pope, Dimondale, MI.; his former wife, Leota Pope Stevenson, Dimondale, MI.; grandchildren Benjamin (Caryn) Hatler, Nicole (Jared Reinhardt), and Andrea Hatler; 3 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren Martin and Addilyn; and 5 step-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Frank “Bud” (Janet) Stevenson, Adrian, MI., and John (Nancy) Stevenson, Waterville, OH.; and 1 sister Mary Ann (Robert) Wolverton, Onsted, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland A. and Evelyn (Wheaton) Stevenson; and 1 grandson Andrew Hatler, who died in infancy.

Jim was a kind and gentle soul with a great sense of humor and a sharp wit. He was loved by all who knew him.

A private family celebration of his life will take place June 28th, 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the John George Home where Jim received excellent care at 1501 E. Ganson St. Jackson, MI 49202.

Arraignments were entrusted to the Chas. J. Burden & Sons Funeral Home, 1806 E. Michigan Ave., Jackson, MI.

Ms. Christine Ledbetter Rentschler, age 76, of Chelsea, Michigan, passed away Sunday, October 26th, 2014, in Chelsea, Michigan.

Visitation, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 31st, 2014, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Hamilton, Alabama.  Funeral service, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 1st, 2014, at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial in Barnesville Cemetery, Hamilton, Marion County, Alabama.

She was born in Hamilton, Alabama on November 11, 1937 the daughter of George and Jesma Watts Ledbetter. She grew up in Alabama, graduating from Hamilton High School in 1957. She then moved to Michigan, and eventually to Chelsea in 1966. Her first job was at the A & W. After that she worked at Wrigley’s Supermarket. She was a member of Salem Grove United Methodist Church. Her favorite pastimes were cooking and canning, and she especially loved cookbooks. She also loved antique tractor shows.

She is survived by her loving companion Paul Bollinger and his family of Chelsea, Michigan; 2 sisters, Lula Belle Franks and Nellie Sue West; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers Dexter and Bobby Ledbetter; and 2 sisters Louise Goodson and Geraldine Dempsey.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home with Pastor Christine M. Beaudoin officiating. Burial will take place in Hamilton, Alabama.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Salem Grove United Methodist Church or the
charity of one’s choice

Tecumseh, MI – Ms. Margie Ree Rayburn Forsthoefel, age 80, of Tecumseh, Michigan, passed away December 7th, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family, under the care of Hospice of Lenawee.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 11th, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh, with the Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler officiating. Burial in Brookside Cemetery. Visitation was 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 10th, 2013, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home in Tecumseh. An additional visitation was held 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 10th, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh, with a Scripture Service held at 7:30 p.m. Friends were also able to call one hour prior to the Funeral Mass at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh on Wednesday.

Margie was born January 6th, 1933 in Hamilton, Alabama, to Pink Levi and Sarah Della Anglin Rayburn. She married Gregory J. Forsthoefel June 6th, 1958 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Adrian, Michigan. He preceded her in death November 23rd, 2004. Margie enjoyed reading, collecting and refinishing antiques, and gardening. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, especially returning to Alabama to see family and friends. Margie was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh.

She is survived by her children, Gregory J. Forsthoefel of Tecumseh, MI., Anthony Forsthoefel of Lansing, MI., Ann Forsthoefel (Terence) Friedman of Raleigh, N.C., Juli (Dave) Jones of Adrian, MI., and Vanessa Forsthoefel of Raleigh, N.C.; 2 grandchildren, Brianna and Alyssa; 3 sisters, Mazie Rayburn Wiginton of Hamilton, AL., Jean Rayburn Curtis of Tupelo MS., and Nell Rayburn (Ray) Scott of Spring Hill, TN.; and 1 brother, R.V. (Pat) Rayburn of Homosassa Springs, FL.*
