Obituaries:

Frank Hollis Privett, 71 and Rita Ann Tolbert Privett, 63, of Addison, Alabama entered into rest on Tuesday, December 24, 2019.

Mr. Privett was born April 10, 1948. He attended Addison High School and Wallace State Community College. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1966-1978. Frank will forever be remembered as a hard working man who wore overalls and a long beard.

Mrs. Privett was born February 22, 1956. She graduated from West Point High School and St. Bernard College and earned a Masters Degree in Education from UAB. She taught at Jones Chapel Jr. High and Logan Jr. High until her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, both vegetable and flowers, cleaning, reading, journaling and studying the Bible. Rita was a caregiver with an infectious laugh and smile.

Visitation will be on Saturday, December 28, 2019 2pm-4pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison with service to follow at 4pm.

Frank is survived by his son, Allen Hollis Privett; daughter, Vanessa (Scotty) Cornelius; sisters, Betty (Roy) Patterson and Gail (Gene) Langley; he was PawPaw to two grandchildren, Hannah Cornelius and her fiancé, Cody Ratliff and Zachary (Brenda Ann) Cornelius; a host of other family, friends and his four legged daughter, Daisy.

Rita is survived by her son, Allen Hollis Privett; daughter, Vanessa (Scotty) Cornelius; brother, Ralph Tolbert; sisters, Sharron Hanes and Linda Marquette; she was Nana Rita to two grandchildren, Hannah Cornelius and her fiancé, Cody Ratliff and Zachary (Brenda Ann) Cornelius; and a host of other family and friends.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Ferguson Privett and Vivian Enna Jackson Privett and his brother, Ellwyn Privett.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey Wayne Tolbert and Myrtle Marie Eddy Tolbert and brothers-in-law, Tim Hanes and John Marquette.

Died:  Friday, December 6, 2019 at the Golden Living Center in Winfield, Alabama.

Visitation:  12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2019, at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, Alabama.

Funeral Service:  2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 7, following visitation, at the the funeral home chapel.

Burial:  Union Grove Congregational Church Cemetery in Haleyville, Marion County, Alabama.

Haleyville, AL – Bobby Ray Sutherland, age 74, of Haleyville, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, September 18th, 2018 At his residence.

Mr. Sutherland was born on September 28th, 1943, in Haleyville, Alabama. Bobby was a jack of all trades which included working in coal mines, computer repair and the mobile home industry.  He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed music, singing, dancing and telling jokes.

Visitation, Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville. Funeral service, Friday, September 21st, 2018 at 12:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Brother  Rickey Witt officiating. Burial in Mt. Vernon Cemetery.

Bobby is survived by his son, Wayne (Beckie) Sutherland; daughters, Connie Tittle and her husband Douglas Turbyfill, Misty Clark and her husband Stephen; sisters, Louise Adair, Barbara Downey; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was “PawPaw” to 7 grandchildren, Latasha Mayfield, Andrew Knight, Rachel Knight, Heather Sutherland, Tara Shaffer, Trevor Clark, Trenton Clark; 8 great grandchildren, Symantha, Coleton, Courtney, Lilly, Holden, Lexie, Brooke, and Dorian. He leaves a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Ruby Mae Sutherland; parents, Arthur and Gertrude Sutherland; brothers, Elvis, Monk, Dee; sisters, Vick, Anna Bell, Marie, Nadine, Evelyn, Evalean, and Shirley.

Houston, AL – Tammy Lee Hunter, age 56, of Houston, Alabama, passed away Monday, September 17th, 2018, at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.

Graveside service, 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 19th, 2018, at Poplar Springs Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.  Brother T.J. Millican officiating.

Tammy was born February 12th, 1962, in Moulton, Alabama. She graduated from Winston County High School in 1980 and was a caregiver to special needs adults.  She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her parents, Frank Owen and Barbara Ann Hunter; 1 brother, Frank Owen (Michelle) Hunter Jr.; 3 sisters, Lisa (Danny) Henderson, Lana (Mike) Sargent, and Amy (Donald) Jones; uncle and aunt, John and Betty Hunter; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert M. and Curtis Spain, and O.B. and Myrtie Hunter; 1 uncle, Roger Spain; and 3 aunts, Luzell Powell, Laverne Aldridge and Vermell Wakefield.

Haleyville, AL – Donald Dean Gilbert, age 57, of Haleyville, Alabama, passed away Friday, September 14th, 2018.

Donald Dean Gilbert was born July 31st, 1961, in Wayne County, Michigan to the late Charles and Sally Gilbert.

He is survived by 1 son, Jared (Heather) Gilbert; 1 daughter, Ashley (Joe) Orellano; 1 grandson, Oliver Gilbert; 3 brothers, Ronald (Sharon) Gilbert, Douglas (Debbie) Gilbert, and Michael (Karen)  Gilbert; 1 sister, Charlene Warner; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Sally Gilbert.
