Funeral Service:  11:00 a.m., Monday, December 2, following visitation at the Guin First United Methodist Church.

Graveside Service:  3:30 p.m., Monday, December 2, 2019, at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery Carrolton, Alabama.

Cindy was Laboratory Director at Marion Regional Medical Center in Hamilton, Alabama. She studied at the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama and attended Pickens Acadamy. She was originally from Carrollton, Alabama.*

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Guin First United Methodist Church or The American Cancer Society.

Died:  Thursday, November 28, 2019, in the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Funeral Service:  2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 1, following visitation, at the Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Guin.

Bio:  He graduated from Marion County High School in 1945 and also graduated from Massey Business College in Birmingham. He started his career as a bookkeeper for D.F. Mobley and later purchased the oil business which he ran for many years. While operating that business, he always helped those in need. He served as a member of Guin City Council for 25 years until the date of his death.  He was a founding member of the MCHS Band Boosters, a charter member of the Guin Civitan Club.  He served on the Advisory Board for State Bank & Trust for 27 years and was also a Mason.*

In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to Amedisys Hospice, 412 S. Court Street Suite 302, Florence, Alabama 35630.

She obtained a B.A. History, from Shorter College in Rome, GA, did graduate work in History at Columbia University in New York City, got a B.S. in Agriculture at the University of Georgia in Athens, and after her children were born, a Masters in Education at Auburn University. She married Thomas Gilbert Butler on June 10, 1956, at Koinonia Farm, Americus, GA. She taught special education 27 years in Lexington (Lauderdale County) and Winfield City Schools. She was a member of Guin First Baptist Church. She taught Bible Classes for 82 years, and with her husband, volunteered in Christian Missions for 42 years, including more than 20 states in the US and every continent except Antarctica.*
