Joan Kurasaka Cox, age 86, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022, at her residence.
Joan was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on September 5, 1935, to Sego Kurasaka and Minnie Green Kurasaka.
Visitation, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at the Marion County Funeral Home, Hamilton, Alabama. Funeral service, 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Max Frye and Alfred Cochran, officiating. Burial in Love Joy Cemetery, Hamilton, Marion County, Alabama.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Burlon Cox; son, Terry Cox; sisters, Irene Barnes, Jean McCurdy, and Marie Frye Jones; and her parents, Sego and Minnie Green Kurasaka.
She is survived by her daughters, Rose Hall, Melissa Terrell, Dana Rye (husband, Darryl); grandchildren, Bryan Cook, Kyle Jones, Sam Cook, LeAnn Rye, Haley Purser, Payton Purser; great- grandchildren, Parker Cook, Logan Cook, Kyran Jones, Ellie Jones, Kullen Dudley; siblings, Doug Kurasaka (wife, Janice), Dwight Kurasaka, Dwayne Kurasaka (wife, Joan), Jan Moyer (husband, Sam); caregivers, Lois Harper, Alex Kelly, Mary Hubbert; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
