Verbel Audine Morrow Jordan, age 97, of Vernon, Alabama, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023, at her residence.

Visitation: Tuesday, May 16, 2023, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., at Chandler Funeral Home, Vernon, Lamar County, Alabama.

Funeral service: Wednesday, May 17, 2023, 2:00 p.m., at Chandler Funeral Home, Vernon, Lamar County, Alabama. Bobby Coward and Darryl Ballew officiating.

Burial in Friendship South Cemetery, Vernon, Lamar County, Alabama.

Pallbearers: Chris Jordan, Jeff Wilson, Garrett Wilson, Collin Wilson, Bobby Cowart, and Grover Hankins.

Audine was born June 30, 1925, in Beaverton, Lamar County, Alabama, in the Webb Community, to the late Lillie Lou Francis Webb Morrow and John Walter Morrow.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Jordan, one son, James Jordan, her father, John Walter Morrow, her mother, Lillie Lou Francis Webb Morrow, her stepmother, Gladys Webb Morrow, 3 brothers, Xavier Morrow, Cleo Morrow, and Ben Jack Morrow, and her half-brother, Thurman Morrow.
She is survived by 1 son, Harold Jordan, 4 grandchildren, Donna (Jeff) Wilson, Chris (Kasey) Jordan, Michael Jordan, and Ashley Guthery, 7 great-grandchildren, Garrett (Whitney) Wilson, Collin (Ashley) Wilson, Levi Jordan, Ava Jordan, Leia Thomas, Weldon Thomas, and Weston Thomas, 3 great-great-grandchildren, Rooks Wilson, Hollis Wilson, and Davis Hood, 1 half-sister, Lanetta (Jimmy) Crowe, 1 half-brother, Dwight (Mary) Morrow, one sister-in-law, Eunice Morrow, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins (of which I am one, Judy Webb Mays, author), and friends; 4 special caretakers, Mary Cantrell, Jeanette Westbrook, Diane Franks, and Rhonda Johnson, and her nurse, Angie Cranford.

Audine was the granddaughter of the late Charles Anderson Webb and Dora Ann Hilburn Webb.

Joan Kurasaka Cox, age 86, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022, at her residence.

Joan was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on September 5, 1935, to Sego Kurasaka and Minnie Green Kurasaka.

Visitation, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at the Marion County Funeral Home, Hamilton, Alabama. Funeral service, 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Max Frye and Alfred Cochran, officiating. Burial in Love Joy Cemetery, Hamilton, Marion County, Alabama.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Burlon Cox; son, Terry Cox; sisters, Irene Barnes, Jean McCurdy, and Marie Frye Jones; and her parents, Sego and Minnie Green Kurasaka.

Obituary:

Billy Fay Norton Real, died in Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, Lee County, Mississippi, Sunday, October 4, 2020 at the age of 93. Born December 27, 1928 to the late Claude Norton and Ella Norton, she grew up in the Pine Springs community near Sulligent, AL and graduated from Sulligent High School where she was elected Homecoming Queen her senior year. She and Dexter D. Real were married June 8, 1946. They worked side-by-side on their Rolling Store, in their country store, and later in their bowling center. Later, she assisted and traveled with him, as he served as Marion County Emergency Management Director. She was a member of Hamilton First Baptist Church. She was multi-talented: a fabulous cook, decorator, hostess, clothes designer, and seamstress. She enjoyed working in her flowers, and her immaculate garden beds were proof of her devotion. She always took great pride in her appearance and loved her jewelry!

She was preceded in death by her parents: Claude Norton and Ella Norton; siblings, Avis Irvin, Grace Anderson, Louree Otts, Burlin Norton, and Paul Norton, and her husband, D.D. Real.

She is survived by her daughter, Lanetta Real Phillips, and husband, Ron Phillips of Russellville, AL, son, Kenneth Real, and wife, Brenda Hamilton Real of Hamilton, AL., grandchildren, Hannah Real of Jasper, AL. and Matthew Real and wife, Allie Lyle Real and great-grandchildren, Collyn and Rhett of Hamilton, AL, and sister-in-law: Anita Real, Hamilton, AL.. and a host of Other Relatives and Friends.

Graveside services will be held on Monday October 5, 2020, 11:00 am at Kingsville Cemetery in Detroit, AL.

Mr. Pugh served in the United States National Guard Army for 23 years as Ssgt-E6. He retired from The Hyster Co. in Sulligent after 33 years of service.*

Bio: Charles was born July 19, 1962, in Guin, Alabama to James Raymond White and Martha Webb White. He was a 1980 graduate of Marion County High School where he was the class salutatorian, a 1982 graduate of Brewer State Jr. College, and a 1986 graduate of Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy. He worked in both retail and hospital pharmacies through the years, most recently being employed at Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper, Alabama. Charles was actively involved in Boy Scouts of America for several years as a troop leader and Cub Master, and an avid photographer. He especially enjoyed photographing the Auburn University Marching Band and was a die-hard Auburn fan. Charles was a Christian and of the Baptist faith.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.

*Author’s Note: This is a tribute to my sweet nephew, Charles White. You will be greatly missed. I’ve loved you since the first time I saw your sweet face on July 19th, 1962 and I will remember you and the good times we’ve had. We had a great family and lots of family gatherings over the years.
