Sulligent, AL – Vivian Otts Spencer, age 71 of Sulligent, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at Generations of Vernon. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 2:00 pm from Sulligent First Freewill Baptist Church with burial in Prospect Cemetery. Bro. Joe Beckon and Bro. Dwayne Hammontree will officiate. Visitation will be on Wednesday at the church from 12:00 noon until service at 2:00 pm.

Vivian was born May 30, 1946 in Sulligent, AL to the late Dudley Belmont and Annie Ruth Clark Otts. She was a 1964 graduate of Sulligent High School. She was also a graduate of Dempsey Beauty College in Birmingham, AL. Over the years, she has worked as a beautician at Chloe’s Beauty Shop and Little Chloe’s Beauty Shop, a seamstress at Reltoc and an insurance agent for United Insurance Company of America and Mutual Savings Insurance Company from which she retired.

She was a member of Sulligent First Freewill Baptist Church where she was an active member. Vivian loved being a part of the devotional group at church, The Sunshine Circle.

In her spare time, she spent time with her family and friends, traveling and gardening.

Jeffrey Daniel “Danny” Smith, age 46 of Hamilton, AL, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2017, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening at Marion County Funeral Home in Hamilton, AL, from 6-8pm. Funeral service will be Thursday at 2:00 pm from Marion County Funeral Home. Bro. Bobby Dodd will officiate. Graveside service and burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Cave In Rock, IL.

Daniel Smith, Toby Smith, Glenn Parker, Dale Northam, Mike Gribble, and Sherriff J.T. Fricker will serve as pallbearers.

Danny was born March 12, 1971 in Washington to the late George Daniel “Dan” Smith and Beverly Carol Baker. He was a 1989 graduate of Hardin County High School in Elizabethtown, IL. Mr. Smith served in the US Marine Corp and was involved in the first Gulf War.

Previously he worked in several area mobile home plants, Mueller Brass in Fulton, MS, Jessco Construction in Tupelo, MS.

Ola Dean Hollis, age 55 of Sulligent, AL, passed away Friday, June 23, 2017 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. from Otts Funeral Home Chapel with graveside and burial to follow in Brown Cemetery. Bro. Bud Glass will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday morning from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 11:00 A.M.

Ola Dean Hollis was born on July 6, 1961 to the late Mr. James Hollis and Mrs. Ola Mae Fleming Hollis. She graduated from Sulligent High School in May of 1979. She joined Powell Chapel CME Methodist Church at young age and was committed to living her adult life as a faithful devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, coworker, home-maker and caretaker. Ola was employed over 16 years at Chromolax Manufacturing. The most rewarding opportunity she had was working with the children and staff of the Challenger Program in Fayette, Alabama. Ola was loved by many. She had a kindred spirit unlike no other. She never met a stranger or denied a friend.

She leaves to cherish these loving memories of her to Lester Ray Wilson, Sr., two daughters; Dionna Hollis and Sharae Wilson, three step-sons; Erik, Lester Ray (Lacy) Wilson, Jr., Cornelius Roy (Jasmyne)Wilson, two step-daughters; Leslie Weir and Ashley Weir, two sisters; Sally Mae (Bob Joe) Johnson and Georgia Ann (Clyde) Kaufman, sister-in-law; Rose (Melbourne) Savage, one niece; Ruby Renee Johnson, four nephews; Anthony (Vanessa) Kaufman, James Robert Patrick (Angela) Johnson, Alex Kaufman, and Lil Melbourne Savage, two great nephews Xavier Kaufman and Omarion Devonte’ Jones, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family, friends, and classmates.

Sulligent, AL – Mr. Hal Brown Jr., age 88, of Sulligent, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the residence. Funeral service will be held Friday, March 31, 2017 at 2:00 pm from Sulligent First Baptist Church with graveside service and burial in Sulligent City Cemetery. Bro. Byron Pickering will officiate. Hal R. Brown, Jr. was born May 7, 1928, in Emelle, AL to the late Hal R. and Winnie Tidmore Brown, Sr. Hal was a graduate of Sulligent High School. Mr. Brown was worked as a railroad conductor. He was retired from Frisco Railroad which is now Burlington Northern. Hal was also a veteran of the US Army. He loved to take out his RV, fish and attend church. He was a member of Sulligent First Baptist Church.

Donald Terrell, age 82, of Hamilton, AL passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the residence. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Mt. Zion #2 Church in Hamilton, AL, with burial to follow in Hamilton Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the church Saturday from 12:00 Noon until service time at 1:00 P.M.

Donald Lee Terrell was born August 7, 1934, to the late Arthur and Velma Mae Terrell. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Betty Jean Casey Terrell on August 9, 1952.

Donald Lee enjoyed farming and driving his diesel truck all across the United States. He was an owner/operator of his own truck and enjoyed visiting many different places while working for himself.

Donald Lee was preceded in death by: his parents: Arthur and Velma Mae Terrell; two brothers: Jerry Wayne Terrell and Willie Gene Terrell; one sister, Naomia Terrell; and his beloved son, Jimmy Terrell

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 65 years, Betty Jean Terrell; two brothers, James (Sue) Terrell of Huntsville, AL and Morman Terrell of Hamilton, AL. He also leaves two granddaughters, Tory (Bobby) Cagle of Vance, AL and Tish Terrell of Vernon, AL; five great granddaughters and four great-great grandkids, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
