December 6, 1929 – February 12, 2014

Mr. Philip Pennington, age 84, of Columbus, Mississippi, passed away Wednesday February 12th, 2014, at the V.A. Hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Funeral service held Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. from Otts Funeral Home Chapel with military honors and burial in the Crews Cemetery. Elder Joseph Nettles officiating. Visitation at the funeral home Saturday evening from 12 until 2 P.M.

Phillip was born December 6, 1929 in Lamar County, AL to the late Joseph Robert and Mary Jane Otts Pennington. He worked several years for Ashburn and Gray Engineering in Huntsville, and worked on the Tenn-Tom Waterway as a Safety & Civil Engineer. Phillip was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, the VFW in Sulligent Post 8450, and Vernon American Legion Post 32. He attended Sulligent High School. Phillip was a member of Sulphur Springs Primitive Baptist Church in the Bartahatchie Community in Monroe County, MS.

Daughters: Elaine (Edwin) Chance, Hamilton, MS
Janis (Don) Weinberger, Gastonia, N.C.
9 Grandchildren
Several great Grandchildren
